As we gather to "Celebrate the Power of Film," we find ourselves in a time of profound change in the industry. Technological innovation, new distribution models, and a global push for inclusivity are driving us toward a more diverse and immersive form of storytelling.
Independent filmmakers are the heartbeat of cinema, reminding us of the power of storytelling and the importance of diverse voices. In a world marked by wars, social unrest, and global challenges, these creators play a vital role in reflecting the complexities of our shared human experience. Their resilience inspires us as they confront pressing social issues, using film as a medium for reflection and dialogue.
Film has a unique ability to bring communities together, fostering empathy and understanding by allowing us to see the world from different perspectives. Independent filmmakers illuminate stories that cross boundaries, building connections among diverse audiences and proving that film can be a powerful catalyst for change.
Warm regards,
Over the next five days, we invite you to immerse yourself in some of the best filmmaking the world has to offer. Together, let’s celebrate the remarkable work of these talented artists and the stories they share.

SEPTEMBER 5 unveils the decisive moment that forever changed media coverage and continues to impact live news today. Set during the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics, the film follows an American Sports broadcasting team that quickly adapted from sports reporting to live coverage of the Israeli athletes taken hostage. Through this lens, SEPTEMBER 5 provides a fresh perspective on the live broadcast seen globally by an estimated one billion people at the time.
At the heart of the story is Geoff, a young and ambitious producer striving to prove himself to his boss, the legendary TV executive Roone Arledge. Bring Them Home/ Aiskótáhkapiyaaya chronicles a decades-long initiative by members of the Blackfoot Confederacy to bring wild buffalo (Blackfeet: iinnii) back to the Blackfeet Reservation. Along the way, however, the initiative faces obstacles from ranchers who see the buffalo as a threat to the cattle ranches that dominate the land and are a legacy of colonization.
