South Dakota National History Day 2017 The South Dakota Hall of Fame seeks to not only honor and highlight, but preserve the stories of everyday people that strove to make their world a better place. We are committed to telling their stories, showcasing that even in the humblest of places, greatness can thrive. The South Dakota Hall of Fame is the state’s only resource that catalogues stories of over 700 brave and extraordinary stories of South Dakotans over the course of 100 years. The Legacy of Achievement program at the SDHoF is 100% free, thanks to the generous support of our many supporters and is being used by High School students accross the state for this year’s National History Day. .
TAKING A STAND IN HISTORY
To take a stand, one must take a firm position on an issue. Historically, people have taken a stand in support of an issue, such as the demonstrators in Tiananmen Square protesting for greater freedom in China. Taking a stand could even involve fighting against a powerful movement, such as Queen Liliuokalani’s fight of Hawaiian annexation. It is by these examples that we learn today, how to take a stand in our own histories.
