South Dakota Hall of Fame 2020 Inductee Delta David Gier lifts the South Dakota Orchestra to a national stage with his ambitious effort to meld orchestral styles with traditional Native songs and ceremonies, impressive background as a former New York Philharmonic assistant conductor, and a conviction that an orchestra should serve its unique community uniquely.

Creating a Legacy of Giving Back to South Dakota

Dr. Charles (2022 Inductee) and Kathie Hart have given back to South Dakota in more ways than one, and their devotion to continue giving back isn’t stopping any time soon. With donor-advised funds supporting projects and organizations they are passionate about, the Harts are creating a philanthropic mindset for their children and future generations of their family.

First Dakota Bank CEO Retires After 40 Years

South Dakota Hall of Fame 2012 Inductee Larry Ness retired from his position as CEO of First Dakota Bank in January. While he reflects on the accomplishments and impact made during his nearly 50 years in business, his talent and knowledge will continue to serve as chairman of the board–a position he has held since 1996.

POET Provides $10,000 Grant to Update Legends & Learning Program for South Dakota Youth

In March, POET (founded by 2017 Inductee, and POET CEO, Jeff Broin) provided the South Dakota Hall of Fame funding through its Gives Back Grant Program. This base financial support will be used to update the Legends and Learning Program, as well as provide the funds needed to continue building curriculum and classroom lessons that share the rich stories of its Inductees to inspire future generations of South Dakota leaders.
