This year, our annual Honors Ceremony is rescheduled due to Covid-19. For the first time ever, the Hall of Fame held a Virtual Medallion Celebration in September. This digital event featured testimonial videos from friends, family, and colleagues of the Inductees, who spoke about the impact these 10 Inductees have on South Dakota. The virtual ceremony also included videos of the Inductees being awarded their medallions by a loved one and they spoke about their reaction of being inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame.

VIRTUAL ANNIVERSARY REUNION MEETUP THE ANNIVERSARY CLASSES OF 2020 COMING TOGETHER ONLINE Another first this year was a virtual meetup for the South Dakota Hall of Fame Anniversary Reunion. We had members for each of the (8) Reunion Classes and it was a terrific meetup continuing to reflect on the impact in our state from these Reunion Inductees. Consider filming a Legacy Video clip (up to 5 minutes of video) for an Anniversary Reunion Class member along with your donation pledge. DETERMINATION FROM THE BEGINNING Bodhi Linde had a goal, and he wouldn’t let anything, even a global pandemic stop him from reaching it. His goal was to ride his bike to school, rain or shine, for 1,000 days straight. This year, he achieved it.

The Acts of Excellence program celebrates the many individuals, groups and organizations in South Dakota that make remarkable achievements every day to enhance the diverse culture of excellence in our state. The Hall of Fame invites everyone to submit individuals, groups and organizations to receive an Acts of Excellence award. Michelle Turner, owner of Red Bird Balloons wanted to give the community of Vermillion something to smile about during the COVID-19 pandemic. So she created a city-wide scavenger hunt on the weekends, tucking intricate balloon sculptures around town.

In the Summer of 2020, Mount Marty College, founded by Inductee Mother Jerome Schmitt, changed its name to Mount Marty University.
Inductee Rod Bower went turned a summer job into a lifechanging opportunity for him, his family, and the town of Kennebec, SD.
