This year’s Honors Ceremony was held in Chamberlain-Oacoma, SD on September 13 and 14. Since 1974, over 700 Dream Chasers have been inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame. Their achievements continue to impact the state of South Dakota in an effort to Champion a Culture of Excellence.

The South Dakota Hall of Fame board chairman, Randy Houdek, announces the appointments of new members to the South Dakota Hall of Fame Board of Directors.

Board members lend their expertise, leadership, and oversight to further the mission of Championing a Culture of Excellence.

The Honors Ceremony Anniversary Reunion is an annual event honoring Inductees who have reached milestones of 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, and 5 years since their induction. This is a special event for Inductees to celebrate their current stories and an opportunity to greet the new class of Inductees.

LIFE OF BECKY HAMMON Rapid City native Becky Hammon, a prolific scorer High School, was considered too small to be a major college player. Proving everyone wrong she went on to play 16 years in the WNBA and became the first woman assistant coach in NBA history.

The Acts of Excellence program celebrates the many individuals, groups and organizations in South Dakota that make remarkable achievements every day to enhance the diverse culture of excellence in our state. The Hall of Fame invites everyone to nominate individuals, groups and organizations to receive an Acts of Excellence award. Recipients will receive a certificate, publicity and access in an online directory at sdexcellence.org/Acts_of_Excellence.

The year-long curriculum meets state standards in several areas including history, vocabulary and other subjects through the lives of outstanding South Dakotans.

Designed by teachers, the curriculum is geared to 4th grade but is adaptable for students at any level. Teachers’ section is included.

The new complex will allow DSU to host more events and camps, as well as positively influence its ability to compete at the conference level.

POET CEO and Founder Jeff Broin was recognized for his vision and leadership in pioneering new technology and building POET into the largest biofuel producer in the world.

Each piece of the arc spans 135 feet, nearly meeting in the middle. The remaining gap symbolizes the leap of faith dreamers make to reach their goals.

Woster worked with a board of directors to make the Ag Experience history project come to life at the old horse barn at Falls Park.

The Hall of Fame celebrates its 45th year and 42nd annual Honors Ceremony Weekend.

New programs are launched, including the Champions for Excellence Network, Legacy of Achievements, and Acts o f Excellence.
