t’s up to the California Coastal Commission to decide whether to renew the seasonal rope barrier that separates people from harbor seals at La Jolla’s Children’s Pool now until 2029. The City Park and Recreation Department has submitted a request to renew alternating rope barrier and legal closure at manmade Children’s Pool beach for another 10 years. In March 2014, the City Council approved a ban on public access at the popular manmade beach between Dec. 15 and May 15. The ban is meant to protect seal mothers and their offspring from human harassment during the marine mammal’s annual

Julie Main, owner and publisher of San Diego Community Newspaper Group, adds San Diego Uptown News, San Diego Downtown News, Mission Times Courier, and La Mesa Courier to the company’s stable of La Jolla Village News, Peninsula
