In February, La Jolla Parks and Beaches, Inc. read a letter by a visionary local architect withdrawing his controversial proposal for a Marine Street memorial, and got an update from city officials on La Jolla Cove Pavilion redevelopment. Project manager Elizabeth Schroth-Nichols updated La Jolla park planners on the status quo of redevelopment of La Jolla Cove Pavilion, a long-term project to replace outdated and deteriorating restroomshower facilities with an attractive, sustainable pavilion honoring the beauty of the Cove and Scripps Park. “We have approval for the aesthetics of the buildings and are working through the design,” said SchrothNichols. “We opened bids on the project in late January, and construction will begin soon after the construction bid is awarded, which we anticipate happening in the next couple months.” The city spokesperson added that worn grass in SEE PROJECT PG. 4
