This family has been in the Thai restaurant industry in San Diego since the early 1990s. A lot of people say choosing the name for a restaurant is a very important part in its success. When they were deciding the name of this restaurant, they thought of ISSARA. “Issara” in the Thai language means liberty -- fitting, since they are located in Liberty Station. They provide casual dining and a commitment to satisfy customers with great service and delicious Thai food.
The setting is simple: Imagine wine tasting in a traditional winery in Europe, combined with relaxed lounge seating. The 14-person large stone bar itself is topped with a zinc countertop found in many European wine bars or taverns. As you’re sitting at the bar, you can view the chalkboard listing 40 different wines that can be ordered by the glass, half-glass (they call them “tastes”) or bottle. Behind the list of that week’s wines are wine barrels framing the bar. Apart from the bar seating, which fills up rapidly, there are wood-topped wine barrels surrounded by comfortable furniture.
