Pottery for All

Cover hand-building methods, a range of exciting projects and learn to decorate, glaze and fire your work. Be as creative as possible! Please bring a notebook to record your work and a pinafore. All levels are welcome.

Pottery for Absolute Beginners

A course aimed at absolute beginners wishing to explore the wonderful world of clay. Learn pottery skills, including: coiling, pinching and slab building, surface decoration, glazing and textures. A friendly and relaxed class under tutor guidance.

Pottery Workshop

Aimed at absolute beginners wishing to explore the wonderful world of clay. Learn pottery skills, including: coiling, pinching and slab building, surface decoration, glazing and textures. A relaxed class with tutorial guidance.

Slip-Casting & Press Moulding

Learn how to slip-cast and press mould multiple small-batch ceramic objects from your plaster moulds. The ceramics studio facilities are available, enabling you to produce finished, glazed objects. Previous experience of ceramics recommended.

Slipware Decoration Workshop

Develop exciting techniques in slipware and decorative skills! We’ll cover sliptrailing, pearling, sgraffito, mocha-ware, brushwork, slip resist and marbling. Previous ceramics experience recommended, but enthusiastic beginners are welcome!

Summer School Ceramics

You’ll produce a selection of work in our ceramics studio and cover basic ceramic skills such as coiling, slab building and modelling. A friendly and relaxed class with tutor guidance. Please note, you will need to cover material costs.

Pottery

Join us for our Pottery afternoon as we teach you how to make your own pottery and create ceramic techniques. Learn hand-building methods, mould making, casting and throwing on electric wheels. Glazes are applied through spraying, painting or ceramic transfers.

Creative Craft Award - Level 1

Enamelling

Explore a range of enamelling techniques such as stamping and scratch back to create exciting designs using colourful enamels on metal. You’ll create a beautiful pendant or pair of earrings to take home!

Connect your art to nature while learning new skills and techniques in wood carving. You’ll learn how to use a mallet and a variety of equipment, including a gouge.

Wood Engraving

An introduction to wood engraving, a delicate and powerful printmaking technique. Learn about the history, tools, image-making and printing involved in wood engraving. A practice block of wood, ink and paper will be supplied.

Join us on this course and learn how to create a beautiful festive wreath, using natural materials including: moss, pine cones, cinnamon sticks and spruce.

Introduction to Willow Weaving

Join us for this enjoyable course, where we will show you how to work with willow. You will get the opportunity to create a garden wigwam, a small basket, and a 3D animal.

Making Marquetry Wood Artwork

Using the historical craft of marquetry you will create a piece of artwork with a contemporary twist. You will learn how to cut and assemble veneers, before designing and creating your own marquetry panel. All materials costs included in fees.

Darkroom Open Workshop

Use our darkroom facilities to make prints from your own negatives. The workshop time could be used for film developing and processing. Ten sheets of light sensitive paper and processing chemicals provided.

Etching

Explore a range of etching processes, including dry-point and soft and hard ground etching. Learn a variety of ‘biting’ and ‘inking-up’ techniques to enrich your work. You will need to supply editioning paper (Snowdon 300gsm) and drawing materials.
