Career Technology Center (CTC) Project Budget: $63.1 million Construction Start: May 2008 Construction Start: May 2008 Completion: June 2010 New five New five‐story story, 88,000 sq. ft. facility to 88 000 sq ft facility to house the Nursing, Cosmetology and Photography and Digital Arts programs.

Includes state‐of‐the‐art classrooms, l d f h l computer labs and medical simulation labs, and a gallery for student work.

The CTC provides new headquarters for City College Police and also includes a new parking structure with 694 stalls a new parking structure with 694 stalls.

Design Philosophy  54% reduction in potable water usage by using state of the art plumbing fixtures  Filtering of all storm water to reduce impact on city’s sewer system g p y y  Reduction of solar heat gain with cool roofs, trees for shading, light colored paving  Preferred parking for carpools, high efficiency vehicles  High efficiency mechanical and electrical equipment – 24% better than current code

Solar Energy Use Solar panels are installed on the roof and parking structure’s south façade. The solar energy generated will provide nearly 8% of the building’s total energy needs, contributing to an energy efficiency that is 25% better than what the state requires.

The vertical array on the parking structure is the largest of its kind in the U.S.

Pre‐Construction • Removal of contaminated soil at Career Technology Center • 10 former underground storage tanks (USTs) and burn ash contributed to the contamination • $1 million impact to project, and 60‐day delay to the start of construction
