Whiskeytown National Recreation Area west of Redding is also home to many waterfalls. A paddler's dream, Redding's lakes and rivers are the perfect place to launch your next adven­ ture. Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is a local favorite for both kayaking and stand up paddleboards due to it's crystal blue waters. Or dip your paddle in the Sacramento River for a more challenging, but no less beautiful, route.

On the one wheel, you have the trails capital of California, on the other, the sunniest city in the state. Put them together, and you have a cyclist's paradise! Cyclists will love the 17.4 mile Sacramento River National Recreation Trail, whie mountain bikers will get a thrill from the vast network of single track trails.

Whiskeytown National Recreation Area has four major waterfalls that are open year-round.

Boulder Creek Falls, Brandy Creek Falls, Crystal Creek Falls, and Whiskeytown Falls all offer spectacular views with hikes for all different leves of hikers. Crystal Creek Falls is even ADA accessible!

Whether you prefer paved trails or rugged dirt roads, Redding has a hike for you! Redding's world class trails system features hikes for all skill levels. Hike to waterfalls, creeks, dams, or stroll across a working sundial. No matter what you're looking for, there's a good chance Redding will have a trail to take you there!

Redding's hundreds of miles of shoreline are calling to you! Water recreation is what we do best around here, thanks to our sunny summers. Jet skis are great for exploring Shasta Lake, and ski boats keep it lively when you add tubes, skis, and wakeboards. For the really adventerous, try a hydrofoil or Jetovator for an extreme lake experience!

Visitors to the rolling, brushy hills near Shasta Lake will find off-highway vehicle (OHV) riding challenges for all abilities. The Chappie-Shasta OHV Area has more than 250 miles of roads and trails for motorcyclists, all-terrain vehicle drivers and four-wheelers. McCloud Falls is home to three different water­ falls, all connected by trail. Lower McCloud Falls is popular with swimmers, with a large pool at its base. Middle McCloud falls is the largest of the three, and one of the widest waterfalls in Calfornia at 120 feet Upper McCloud falls features an ADA accessable overlook.

Potem Falls runs into Shasta Lake and is acces­ sible by trail up the Pit River Arm of Shasta Lake. This waterfall lies in a deep canyon and reaches 45 feet from its base. Enjoy swimming in the pool at the base during the summer months, and don't forget to check out the rope swing!
