FEBRUARY 2021 Message from the Director of Golf Rick Price, PGA We are off to another exciting season this year! The weather at the end of January with rain and snow in the mountains was challenging for golf. However, it looks like we will have a beautiful and warm February. On Friday, January 22, we conducted our annual Helicopter Ball Drop along with a Club Fitting Demo Day. We provided a great barbeque at Charley's grille near the driving range with music and fun. The below picture are the winners of the Helicopter Drop fundraiser.

Updated News Golf course reminder: There was no overseeding on all the newly sodded areas around the greens, approach areas, and driving range tee. We ask your help when driving your golf cart around the tees and greens, always to keep the cart on the path, including all handicap flagged golf carts. Please follow the signage for golf cart traffic and use the blue gate system to enter the fairways between the two blue stakes and exit the fairway between the two blue stakes further down the fairway. The idea is to keep your carts in the fairway once you enter through the blue stakes. The newly seeded fairways will handle cart traffic much better than the dormant Bermuda rough. The first tee time in February is 7:48 am. Every week after it changes 8 minutes earlier. The Pro Shop will open an hour before the first tee time and close at 5:00 pm daily. PRO SHOP STATUS We welcome you into the Pro Shop. However, we require masks inside, along with only two people at a time, to ensure the safety of all our members, residents, guests and staff. The check-in process will continue as follows: a tee host concierge will be stationed outside of the pro shop to assist you with check in. The player assistant will be on the tee to get you started on time. GOLF CART POLICY The Views Golf Club golf cart policy is two players per golf cart. Single players should be prepared to share a Views Club cart. We pair golfers up to share a golf cart according to starting times booked. Cart rental is a per seat charge. Due to the lack of availability of golf carts, we cannot provide single rider golf carts. You may consider walking or renting one of our four single rider scooters. However, please do not book a tee time if you are uncomfortable riding with someone else in a cart. Masks are recommended while riding in the golf cart. Masks are not required while playing, on the driving range or practice areas, if maintaining social distance – but if unable to do so, please wear your mask. If you have a private golf cart, you may continue to ride as a single. Only two carts will be allowed in the fairway or rough at any given time. Any additional carts in the group must always remain on the cart path the entire hole.

If you have less than four players and would like no one else to be paired with your group, you are welcome to pay for the entire foursome at the public rate to reserve the space. It is also the person's responsibility to book the starting time to fully communicate these procedures to all golfers in their group in advance before arriving at The Views Golf Club. TEE TIME RESERVATIONS Thank you for checking in and being ready to tee off a minimum of 10 minutes before your scheduled tee time. The early arrival to your starting time helps keep us on schedule throughout the day, leading to a good pace of play and an enjoyable day on the course. FROST DELAY PHONE LINE – 520-825-0322 Please contact the frost line first thing in the morning if you believe there may be frost on the course that will delay your starting time. Depending on the frost length, we can catch up with tee times later in the morning or early afternoon, depending on cancelation. So, double-check your email for any changes or call the Pro Shop at 520-825-3110. PRACTICE FACILITIES & DRIVING RANGE TEE DRIVING RANGE - We will continue using the artificial tee-line through the end of the season. It is located on the back of the driving range tee. PRACTICE PUTTING GREEN - Is available for putting and chipping. SHORT GAME PITCHING AREA - The new short game area will feature two practice chipping greens and a bunker located between the 1st tee and 9th green at the bottom of the hill. The short game practice area was not overseeded this year. We will keep you updated on the progress as to when we will open the practice area. More then likely, it will be late spring as the Bermuda starts growing. FINN SCOOTER'S We have four Finn Scooters available to rent. They are easy to ride with a low-center of gravity and the lightweight aluminum frame makes it a well-balanced ride. If you can ride a bike, you can ride a Finn. Renting a scooter is easy through a downloadable app. The cost is $25 for 18 holes and $14 for 9 holes. This fee is additional to the golf rate, and is charged right through the app when registering to use the scooter.

Lesson Tee DRIVING RANGE TIPS TO PRACTICE The driving range is where you can work on creating repetition in your swing. Too many

golfers are unsure of how to approach a session at the driving range, and this translates to bad habits on the course. You can approach the driving range in two ways – focused sessions or all-around sessions. A focused session is dedicated to repeating one shot or using one club for 100 swings, and this approach allows you to leave the range feeling more confident in both the shot and the club. An all-around session, on the other hand, focuses on every club in your bag for roughly 15 to 20 shots each. For an all-around session, follow these six tips to improve your practice. Stretch: It’s important to get loose before swinging your club to avoid any swing-related injuries. Stretch your arms, legs, shoulders and arms, and then perform a few practice swings with a high-lofted club to continue warming up your muscles. Never rush through your shots: Before you hit your first ball on the driving range, remember to treat each swing like you were out on the course. After all, 35-40 focused shots are better than 100 rushed shots. Rushing through a session on the driving range is a great way to develop bad habits on the course. Move through irons from high to low: Start your session with your wedges and move through to your driver. This natural progression eases you from shorter swings to the full swings. Aim for specific targets and yard markers: This is a great way to mimic an actual round and will help you stay focused while on the driving range. Play games with yourself: After you’ve swung each club in your bag, try playing simulated holes by swinging your driver. Then, to replicate an actual hole, hit an approach shot from 130-150 yards before finally hitting a short wedge for 30-50 yards. Hit the putting green: Always wrap up your practice sessions by hitting the putting green to practice short chips and putting. The majority of shots during a round are close to the green, so it’s important to include them in your training sessions. Please attend one of our weekly clinics on Tuesdays or Wednesdays or take a private lesson for further help with your chipping. Call the Pro Shop at 520-825-3110
