This handbook was created to help you get to know SCOV and all it has to offer. Inside, you’ll find information on everything from amenities to activities, along with tips for making the most of your new community.

The Board of Directors of Sun City Oro Valley Community Association, Inc. operates under the laws of the State of Arizona and in accordance with the powers, duties and responsibilities provided in the governing documents of the Association. Accordingly, the Board establishes corporate policy and assigns responsibilities for daily operations to the General Manager. The Board has the ultimate responsibility for actions of the corporation and for maintaining, preserving and enhancing the assets and facilities of the Association. The community members elected to serve in this important capacity must set aside their personal agendas, represent the interests of the entire community, listen to input from all members, and take actions together that reflect their best judgment for the good of the greater community. Each Board member has a personal fiduciary responsibility to avoid conflicts of interest, avoid actions as a Board member outside of Board authority and protect the interests of the corporation. Concerts, trips, day outings, and so much more are planned year-round for the enjoyment of SCOV residents. AQUATIC & FITNESS CENTER (AFC) 917-8067
Enjoy exercise equipment, free weights, racquetball courts, pickleball, aerobics classes, a large spa and lap swimming (see below). For your safety and enjoyment, all AFC users are requested to attend an orientation of the gym equipment prior to using the facility. Stop in the AFC to sign up or call our Recreation and Fitness Coordinator at 917-8073.
Exercise Class Punch Pass $20/10 classes
• Classes include cardio chair aerobics, Sunrisers, Sweat ‘n Stretch, Water Aerobics, Core and Zumba.
• To participate in AFC-sponsored fitness classes, purchase an electronic punch pass online under Fitness. It can also be used for your guests. There is a drop-in charge if you do not have a punch pass. There are also classes sponsored by various clubs. See the Tipster’s club section for details on these classes.
To register for a fitness class
1. Visit www.suncityorovalley.com

2. Click on Member Login, then enter your member number and password to sign in.
3. Select the Fitness Class Reservation & Passes tab.
4. First time using Punchpass? Create an account. If you already have an account, click Sign In.
5. To schedule a class, choose either Schedule List or Calendar, then select your desired class.
6. Click on the class name, then click Reserve My Spot.
That’s it you’re registered!
To Reserve a Lap Lane or Court (Lap Lane, Bocce Court, Pickleball, Pop Tennis, Tennis, etc.)
1. Go to www.suncityorovalley.com.
2. Click Member Login, enter your member number and password, then sign in.
3. Click the orange Reserve Lap Lanes & Courts button.
4. On the next screen, select the tab for the activity you'd like to reserve (e.g., Lap Lanes, Pickleball, Tennis, etc.).
5. Choose a date by clicking directly on it or using the arrows at the top of the calendar.
6. Scroll down to view available times and click on your preferred time.
7. Select a reservation length (30 or 60 minutes), then click Save
8. You will receive a confirmation email.
Cancellation Policy Only the person who made the reservation can cancel it. Please cancel at least one hour before your scheduled time.
To Cancel or Edit a Reservation
1. Go to www.suncityorovalley.com and click Member Login
2. Sign in using your member number and password.
3. Once logged in, you’ll see “Welcome, [Your Name]” at the top.
4. Click on My Reservations a list of your current reservations will appear.
5. To cancel a reservation, click the trash can icon next to it.
6. When prompted, confirm by clicking Yes or No
7. You’ll receive an email confirmation once your reservation is canceled.
Using the App
Download the mobile app by searching Sun City Oro Valley HOA in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Use the same credentials for the app that are used for the website.
CHANGES TO YOUR HOME
Development standards, architectural and aesthetic guidelines, residential inspections, and many compliance requirements are outlined in our governing documents. If you plan to make any exterior alterations, additions, painting, landscaping changes, or other modifications that affect the exterior appearance of your home or property, you must first submit your plans and receive written approval from the Architectural Review Committee (ARC). The ARC meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.

COMMUNITY DIRECTORY
Our community telephone directory is available on the mobile app and the Members section of the website. You can update your information from My Profile located under Members.
FACILITY ACCESS CARD/KEY FOB
A facility access card is required to use the facilities, such as the library, the Aquatic & Fitness Center and the other facilities that are part of the community as well as to participate in any clubs. This card shows your name, address and unit/lot number. These cards are non-transferable. A key fob can be used to gain entrance into the buildings and can be purchased for $10.
FINANCES
We are a financially stable community. The community has been aggressively planning for the future through the Asset Reserve program. Its purpose is to provide funds for replacement and repair of capital items. Go to scovaz.com, login and from the Members home page select Financials.
FOUNDATION
The Foundation has been created to provide voluntary financial support to meet qualified health, cultural, educational and charitable needs of Southern Arizona, with priority attention to SCOV needs. The creation of the Foundation Fund makes it possible for donors to receive tax deductions for gifts contributed for these purposes. It is the hope of the Foundation Council that there will be an increasing level of giving, sharing and helping, which are powerful elements in the evolving character of our community. GIFT SHOP—520-917-8051
The Gift Shop supports the creativity of the artists and crafters of our community by providing an outlet for consignment sales of their art and crafts. It is open to residents and the public. There are many unique items ceramics, pottery, jewelry, clothing assortment of children’s books and toys, stained glass and more. All items are made by SCOV residents. The quality is outstanding, and prices are just right. The Gift Shop is in the Artisan Center. See the Tipster, page 2, for hours.

LOAN ROOM
The loan room is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-9 AM. Provides fold-up beds, equipment for visiting children, medical equipment, cots, etc. It is located at the cart barn and run by volunteers. Items are available free of charge (donations accepted). Reservations may be made two months in advance.
MEMBERS-ONLY WEB SITE
For SCOV residents only. Everything from our governing documents and financials to our vendor list and community directory. When you purchased your home an email was sent to you with directions on how to sign up for the members only section of the website. You will use these credentials to sign into the members section as well as for the mobile app.
POSSE
Our neighborhood watch group of volunteers do night patrols providing security to SCOV seven days a week. For further information call the chair listed in the Tipster.

WANT TO RENT YOUR HOME?
1. Complete application to become a rental. We are limited to 249 units in the Association. Submit to the Administration Office the forms found on our website under Members Services>For Your Home>Rent Your Home.
2. A lease may not be less than 30 days.
3. Your Member’s Facility Access Cards are non-transferable and may only be used by you. You may not give your cards to renters.
4. The Non-Owner Occupied Home form and Age Verification must be completed by the homeowner and returned to our office at least 3 business days prior to your renter’s arrival Failure to submit the paperwork will result in fines and denying access cards to your renter.
5. There is a $25 renter registration fee which covers two Facility Access cards for the length of the lease. Additional cards will be charged $25/card per month. Each person must have their own card.
6. Administration does not keep rental agreements on file.
RV PARKING FOR GUESTS & FOR YOU
Guests bringing an RV into Sun City may park it for no more than six (6) consecutive hours within the community, and never overnight (midnight to 6 am), except in a designated area approved by the Association. To use a designated area, the guest must register and sign a waiver with the Association. Parking in a designated area is limited to 72 hours, and the RV may not be occupied overnight at any time. SUN SHUTTLE DIAL-A-RIDE
Sun Shuttle is for Oro Valley residents 62 years of age and older who are transportation dependent and/or eligible to ride under the Americans for Disabilities Act. This is a pre-registered service. Call 520-229-4990.
TIPSTER
The monthly publication provides community news, coming events and club activities. It is available free of charge the first of each month. Tipster pickup locations: Activity Center, Welcome Center, Desert Oasis, Catalina Vista the Aquatic & Fitness Center, the pro shop and the restaurant. Also available on the website under News & Info.
TRASH & RECYCLING
Republic is SCOV’s waste & recycling provider. Your fees are included in your yearly dues. Bin order forms, FAQs and service days can be found on the website under Members>Member Services>Trash Information

VENDOR LIST
The list is located on our website under Members>Member Services>Vendor List. This is a list of vendors providing services and products. All vendors must provide written proof of license, bonding and insurance and provide three references from within SCOV. They must have no unresolved complaints.

This is a neighbors-helping-SCOV-neighbor organization with caregiver relief, transportation, animal care, handyman services, light housekeeping or yard care, paperwork organization, and short running errands.
WALKING ON THE GOLF COURSE
Times vary due to season. Please see the website About Us>Amenities>Golf Course Walking Hours & Tipster for more information. Please be courteous and respectful to any golfers that you meet on the course. They have the right of way. Let them play through. Dogs are allowed, but must be on a six-foot leash, and it is your responsibility to clean up after your pet and keep them under control.
