THE SCUTUM GROUP BECOMES THE FOURTH LARGEST ELECTRONIC SECURITY COMPANY IN THE UK FOLLOWING THREE MAJOR ACQUISITIONS
PRESS RELEASE
Despite challenges faced in the short-term by Operators in the Security System Services industry amidst Brexit-related uncertainties and pressures on security budgets, the UK Security market remains strong with an estimated annual growth rate of 11.8% from 2014-2019 (Source: www.ibisworld.co.uk, August 2018). More specifically, the Electronic Monitoring industry in the UK is worth £1.4 Billion in revenues a year and is split between the three largest services of Monitoring of Security System Services, which estimated to account for 53.8% of industry revenue, while 26.4% of the industry revenue is attributed to the Monitoring of Fire Alarm system services in 2018-19 (Source: www.ibisworld.co.uk, August 2018).
Following this growth trend, The Scutum Group, a privately owned Electronic Security company originated in France in 1989 and with strong presence in Western Europe, continues to invest in the United Kingdom with three major acquisitions that now places the Group as one of the top four largest Electronic Security companies in the country (based on the number of monitored sites). This milestone has been achieved only three years after the Scutum Group entered the UK market through the acquisition of Orion Security Solutions in Oxford, England, and ahead of Scutum’s 30th Anniversary in June 2019.
The three well-established companies, Securi-Guard, with over 35 years experience located in the south of England specialising in 24-7-365 Monitoring Services (Intruder, Fire and Ancillary, lone and vulnerable worker alarms, CCTV and vehicle and container tracking and monitoring throughout Europe); Elite Fire, established in 1999, a leading Fire Protection company with offices in London and in the South of England; and Logiscan Fire & Security which covers the regions of Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Avon; have become part of the Scutum Group in December 2018, welcomed by UK CEO, Christopher Holland who stated: “Scutum UK continues to grow apace with considerable investment by the Scutum Group, who view the UK as an important strategic market. As the CEO of Scutum UK, I am pleased to announce the recent acquisition of Elite Fire, located near Woking, Surrey, Securi-Guard Alarm Receiving Centre and its security and guarding business units in Plymouth and Logiscan, a security company in Bristol, all of which will add significantly to our portfolio of Security, Fire and Digital services throughout the UK. With 10 businesses, 500 staff and 270 engineers, and a turnover in excess of £50m; Scutum UK is a significant partner to the UK and European business that requires focused customer service, innovate technology and management information as well as cost-effective solutions for the protection of People, Property, Profit, and Brand.”
Leading the company’s expansion since 1992, Scutum Group’s CEO Franck Namy states that: “Over the recent years, the Scutum Group has completed major acquisitions which have benefited its growth and enabled it to distinguish itself in the European market. With a focus upon growth in the UK, we are proud to have Securi-Guard, Elite Fire Protection, and Logiscan joining us on our progression towards the Group’s Strategic Plan: “Scutum 2020”; a project that was unveiled in 2016 and is focused on the digitisation and innovation of our entire operation. This wealth of experience within the Monitoring and Fire Protection services will create new business opportunities within the UK and across Europe.”
Unlike the top three UK market players whose expertise is primarily in the manned security labour force, the Scutum Group focuses on Electronic Security with remote surveillance in the core of its operations by utilising the latest technologies and data science to predict and prevent risks and protect people, infrastructures, data, and assets. This district differentiation and expertise combined with strong due diligence and financial stability will continue to support the Scutum Group to pursue further expansion within the UK and international markets in the upcoming years.
