The Scout Guide Austin, Volume 12

Page 1

TEXAS

EditorsLetter

It is my privilege to present the 12th edition of The Scout Guide Austin, a city guide designed in order to prove that everything you need to live a beautiful life can be found right here within your own community.

Each year and with each new edition, this publication is given life through high-impact photography and thoughtful story telling, something that will always be paramount to our brand and to the success of the businesses within. I feel honored, alongside Jenna McElroy, to have brought another guide to life and to join alongside some of Austin’s best and brightest to share the local businesses that make our Central Texas haven unique and sought after by many transplants.

Often imitated, yet never duplicated, the city of Austin seamlessly blends a love for the arts, live music, provisions, wellness, the outdoors, entrepreneurship, and start-up culture. It’s not lost on me how lucky we are to stumble into The Continental and run into Lady Gaga o ering a surprise performance after ACL, or to watch as the Michelin Guide comes to Texas and names many wellknown Austin haunts to its coveted list. A place by turns both innovative and yet somehow also free-spirited, there is a home for everyone here in Austin, Texas. And if you can handle the summer heat, the spring’s patio weather, fall concert lineup and widely accepted ‘tacos for every meal’ diet will always make up for it tenfold.

To the small-business owners gracing the pages ahead, each of you have changed the way I view this city. You have taught me so much about what creativity, passion, and an unmistakably Austinlike spirit of ‘anything is possible’ can produce. You each deserve to have your names shouted from the rooftops and over the lifecycle of Volume 12, and I promise to do just that, championing your business to any and all who will listen.

And finally, thank you to our loyal readers those who live in this city and those who admire it from afar. Let these pages serve as a window into the local magic found only in Austin. Then please go out and use this guide to support real people in your community living out their dreams.

As always, with gratitude for this guide and the people that helped along the way, thank you,

Shannon Bland

Twenty years ago on 2nd street, Stephanie Coultress O’Neill opened the doors to Estilo Boutique’s first location ( the second location if you count her one-bedroom apartment ) , which eventually relocated to Casis Village. From there, the women’s retailer grew to add men’s and kid’s stores in two other retail spaces in the village. This year, she’s pivoting again, celebrating two decades by expanding its presence. The expansion included taking over the corner space next door to the existing women’s store and bringing together women’s, men’s, and children’s collections under one roof, 4,200 square feet of retail space ready to serve the entire family.

With a thoughtfully designed layout, customers can pass through each part of the store to experience the distinct yet uniform shopping experience. The layout also benefits by allowing for each customer to have access to a fashion authority in Stephanie. In prior years, she would be between one store or the next, while many would pass through the doors specifically for her expertise and personal shopping experience. Now, Stephanie has created a department - store effect with a local feel where she is accessible and her expertise can be felt throughout the thoughtfully designed shopping experience.

Stephanie and Todd hope to use the adaptable space to host community events and gather people together, which they’ve done, alongside styling the city, for the last twenty years. We’re wishing a heartfelt congratulations to you both. Here’s to twenty more years of Estilo!

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Travis County believes every child who’s experienced abuse or neglect deserves to have a dedicated advocate speaking up for their best interest in court, at school, and in our community. To accomplish this, CASA educates and empowers community volunteers who ensure each child’s needs remain a priority in an overburdened child welfare system.

“It only takes one adult to change a child’s life for the better. I want to be that for a child. Don’t you?” expresses June, a dedicated CASA volunteer.

LOCAL WOMEN AND THEIR Work

Women entrepreneurs are redefining innovation by turning personal pain points into purpose-driven businesses. With an intuitive grasp of unmet needs, they’ve crafted solutions that feel less like products and more like lifelines whether it’s a dress that can be worn from carpool to date night, a thoughtful platform designed to build a baby registry with capabilities that are far more parent friendly than any offered prior, or a health-driven brand that reimagines a mom’s capability to move her body. These founders aren’t just filling gaps in the market; they’re rewriting the rules, proving that business can be both profitable and deeply personal. Their success isn’t just measured in revenue but in the ripple effect of change, lifting others as they rise.
