Carreras Jewelers has been a family-owned business in Richmond for more than 50 years. Along with providing dazzling diamonds, gorgeous gemstones and eclectic estate jewelry they have also always given back to their community.

This year they decided to try something new and work with one Richmond non-prof it throughout the entire year on a project that would be meaningful to the organization rather than simply donating jewelry to silent auctions. The Bon Secours Evelyn D. Reinhart Guest House was selected because of its mission of hospitality; to be Good Help to Those in Need. ÂŽ The request was to have two murals painted in common areas of the home that evoke peace and comfort to those who are facing uncertain outcomes of loved ones.

With Rejena’s love of art and love of the Richmond community it became the perfect project.

Emily Herr was commissioned to bring the project to life. She took stories told from patients, families, volunteers, and staff and combined them all together for a mural that softly shows the history, love, kindness, sadness, joy, and peace the house holds within its walls every minute of every day.

The Reinhart Guest House welcomes you to come and take a tour of the home on Libbie Avenue and take in the beautiful murals that remind us how healing art can be to those needing a moment of peace.
