Welcome to the 2018 Scotty Challenges guide!

Here you’ll find details of some of the amazing charity challenges we have planned for 2018. We have something for everyone, whether you are setting yourself a first ever challenge or you’re a seasoned veteran. From mud runs to overseas treks - we’ve got the lot.

Some of our challenges are free but require a minimum fundraising amount to be raised and other events can be funded by yourself with no minimum target, allowing you to raise whatever you can.

Throughout this guide you will find details about our current 2018 challenges as well as information on how your fundraising will make a real difference to the lives of our bereaved British Forces children & young people.

Running Still the most popular fundraising challenge of them all!

Running events offer something for everyone, from newbies looking to get off the couch and be more active - to those looking to push themselves even further with an Ultra challenge.

A great first step is our Month of May Marathon virtual challenge. Sign up online and pledge to run, walk or jog 26.2 miles over the month of May. You can tackle your marathon in small or large chunks and whenever is conveinent for you.

We also have charity places at a range of different events up and down the UK. For the latest list check out the ScottyChallenges website.

Remember, you can still book a place at an event not listed and fundraise for Scotty’s. Just sign up directly with the organiser and register your activity with us on our website.

Scotty’s LITTLE Soldiers supports children who have lost a parent serving in the British Army, Royal Navy and the RAF. Both Regular and Reserve families can get involved.

Ultra series An Ultra challenge is any event greater than a traditional marathon distance. We’ve teamed up with experts Action Challenge to offer charity places at their Ultra Series.

Race to the stones An unforgettable 100km Britain’s oldest path.

Humans have walked the length of the Ridgeway for over 5,000 years. Now it’s your turn to take on the challenge of following in their footsteps.

Voted Best Endurance Event in the UK Running Awards 2016, Race to the Stones can be conquered over one day or a whole weekend. You can run it or walk it with friends.

If you choose the weekender option you’ll be able to camp over at the half way base camp on the Saturday evening and catch up with the Scotty Team.

This is our featured fundraising event for 2018 and we’re proud to be a Gold Charity Partner.

Why your fundraising counts Did you know Scotty’s has a fundraising ratio of just 13%.

That means it costs us just 13p to raise every £1 of income, meaning 87p is spent on delivering the support that is so badly needed.

We can keep our fundraising costs low because of our great supporters raising money on our behalf.

Despite being blessed with so many great Forces charities in the UK, Scotty’s Little Soldiers is the only charity delivering day to day support to bereaved British Forces children.

As awareness of the charity continues to grow so too does the demand for the support available. We are now delivering assistance to more bereaved Forces children than ever before.

We have made a long term commitment to be there for the children of the fallen throughout their childhood.

mud runs The fastest growing sport in the world and definitely the newest fundraising buzz.

Mud Runs or OCRs (Obstacle Course Races) are becoming one of the most popular ways of raising money for charity whilst taking on a personal challenge at the same time.

We have charity places at a number of events throughout the year but of course you are free to sign up with your favourite event and still fundraise for Scotty’s.

SPARTAN RACE We’ve partnered with SPARTAN RACE - the World’s Best Obstacle Race - and we’ll be present at every UK event in 2018. There are 3 types of Spartan events, Sprint (5km+) Super (13km+) & Beast (20km+) so there’s plenty of challenge for experienced mud runners as well as a great entry point with the Sprint event.

Take on a Spartan Race for Scotty’s in 2018 as a personal challenge or as part of a team. We’ll see you at the finish line!
