www.scottsvalley.org The FASTEST and easiest way to register for our classes is ONLINE by creating a new account for YOU and/or your FAMILY! There is a convenience fee for online registrations based on the total amount.

We encourage you to register early. Programs are offered on a minimum enrollment basis. If minimum enrollment is not met, classes will be canceled no later than 3 days prior to the start date.

If a specific class or program is full, your name and phone number will be placed on a waitlist. Office staff will call you if space becomes available. Additional sessions will be added whenever possible in an effort to accommodate those who express an interest in a class or program.

Register in Person at The Recreation Division Office, 361 Kings Village Road, in Skypark. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm. Cash payments must be exact.

We guarantee that you will be satisfied with the recreation class in which you or your child participate. If you are not satisfied after attending one day of a class or program, inform us and we will arrange for you to receive a full refund less a $10.00 service fee. All refunds must be requested the day following the first day of class.

Adaptive Swim This time is designated for those who would like to enjoy the benefits of warm water therapy or just play games. Our ADA approved lift and sling allows anyone to participate and have fun in a positive environment!

$5 drop-in fee or punch card for $25

Pool Parties: Reserve the pool for your next party or gathering for two hours! Saturday and Sunday at either 11:30-1:30 or 4:30-6:30pm. Please schedule at least two weeks in advance.

Res. $150 Nonres. $164 for the pool staffed with two lifeguards (one on duty at all times), a picnic area with small BBQ and three tables.

Recreation Swim: Open every Saturday and Sunday 2:00-4:00pm from September 2-October 8. $4 per person, children ages 4 and under are free.

Water Exercise Class: Fridays 11:30-1:30pm. An organized workout will be available for the first hour. Lifeguards will have equipment and suggested exercise information on hand. $5 drop-in fee or $25 for a five punch card good for the rest of 2018

Group Lessons Class Descriptions: Parent/Baby: Children ages 3 months to 3 years and their parent. Parents will learn how to teach their child age appropriate water safety and swimming skills in a fun and encouraging environment.

Level 3: Children will continue learning stroke technique as well as side breathing, backstroke and advanced water safety skills like treading water.

Level 1: Beginning swimmers, 3 years of age and up (child participation only). Class focuses on beginning water safety skills and helping your child feel comfortable in the water.

Level 4: This junior swim team is for children five years and older and will focus on further stroke development and endurance. Students must be able to swim 40 feet comfortably, without stopping.

Level 2: For children who can float on their stomach unassisted. This class will teach beginning stroke technique and further their water safety skills.

Private Lesson: Children 3 years of age and up, custom and individualized swim instruction. Lessons are 20 minutes in length.

12 weeks Staff newborn to 6 years Child development researchers have found that grouping together children of varying ages fosters natural, family-style learning. The hallmark of the Music Together program, our Mixed Age Class gives children the environment that they need to grow musically while interacting both socially and musically with peers of different ages. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones, and adults are happy because their children can go to class together. Any or all of each child’s caregivers, parents, grandparents or nannies-can share in the experience, both in class and at home. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience. Valley Sports Camp Basketball Clinics is an active, high energy basketball program for boys and girls ages 57 & 8-12. Kids will spend an exciting season learning and developing essential basketball skills (dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense) through skill demonstrations and playing a variety of interactive and engaging basketball games. Ultra beginning level thru club level this, class is for you! Long-time Santa Cruz County instructor Amber Blavin believes if you can walk, you can dance! Class environment is relaxed, low key, fun, and no partner is needed to line dance! Dance is a great way to get your cardio exercise for the day and is an exercise for your mind and body, as memorizing body movements challenges your brain. It is also a great way to meet and maintain local friendships. Bring a water bottle to class and wear comfortable shoes to dance in. 4 weeks 18 & up Ever wish for more energy? Less stress? The ancient practice of Qi Gong is a gentle form of breathing and body movement with proven mental and physical benefits. In this class, we’ll learn and practice simple standing movements and deep breathing techniques to calm the mind and enliven the body. For the fall season, we’ll practice a routine over four weeks that students can continue to practice at home. The movement series specifically supports our physical and emotional energy as we transition from long days of summer into fall and prepare for the shorter days of winter. Our November/December classes will teach a slightly different movement series to specifically support our physical and emotional energy through the winter. Again, students will learn what they need to continue practicing at home.

All classes include a 30 minute breath and movement sequence and a short meditation. Wear comfortable, loose clothing and bring a water bottle.

Suzi Humbert 14 & up Explore the topic of “self-love” with a fun and creative watercolor painting workshop. No painting experience necessary! In this 3-week class you will learn the basic watercolor painting techniques and complete three paintings inspired by the powerful intention of self-love. Workshops based on “Healing the Heartspace; a Watercolor Healing Journey” art workbook. A $35 material fee is due to the instructor at the first class meeting and covers all paper, paints, and supplies used during the 3 week workshop.

She loves teaching creative arts to all ages and is constantly being inspired by the creative spirit. There are children in our community that would benefit from participating in a recreation class but are unable to due to their family’s financial circumstances. We are pleased to announce that with a generous donation from Omega Nu of Santa Cruz, the Scotts Valley Advocates have established a scholarship fund to provide assistance with class fees for such families!

To Apply For A Scholarship:

Family should submit a letter requesting assistance for the class of their choice, in-

cluding the reason for the request and details explaining why assistance is needed. All requests and approvals for program assistance will be kept confidential. This program is open only to children under the age of 18, and is not intended for the City’s school-age daycare programs. Awards limited to funds available.

We are grateful for donations in any amount, and your 100% tax-deductible contribution will go towards making a difference in a child’s life. Lodato Park

Siltanen Park is 7.5 beautiful acres located on Vine Hill School Road in Scotts Valley. Group reservations are available for picnics and company parties. Park amenities include a group BBQ pit, small BBQ grills, picnic tables, two softball fields, a soccer field, children’s playground, restrooms, horseshoe pits, and a 200 car parking lot.

Located behind the business park on Green Hills Road, Lodato Park is home to 1.2 miles of hiking and walking trails.

Siltanen Family Swim Center The pool is located at 127 Vine Hill School Road (inside Siltanen Park). Lessons and recreational swimming are provided in our 20’ by 40’ pool. The pool can be rented for 2-hour private parties on Saturdays and Sundays beginning in AprilOctober. Call the Recreation Office for details 438-3251. ADA accessible lift available for all ages.

Skypark Skypark features a group BBQ grill, children’s birthday gazebo and playground areas, four lighted tennis courts, walking/ jogging path, soccer fields, basketball court, pump track, bocce ball courts and restrooms. Large 20,000 sq./ft. skate park has different levels of difficulty and vertical challenges for skaters of all abilities. The Recreation Division offices have classroom/party facility adjacent to BBQ area.

Vern Hart Fishing Park Located on Glen Canyon road (approx. 1/2 mile from Mt. Hermon Road) this parks offers a beautiful view of Carbonero Creek and small picnic areas.

Hocus Pocus Park Located on Whispering Pines Drive near Mt. Hermon Road, this park features a family BBQ and picnic area, grass area and two half-court basketball courts. Bounce Houses are not permitted.

MacDorsa Park MacDorsa Park is a unique park with rocks and rope features located on Civic Center Drive adjacent to City Hall and the Scotts Valley Police Department. Park amenities include a group BBQ grill, picnic tables, playground, gazebo, horseshoe pits and restrooms. Use your imagination at this charming park!

Scotts Valley Dog Park Located next to the soccer fields at Skypark, this open field allows your dog ample space to run and play off-leash, while providing a safe place for socializing with other dogs and “their people”.
