PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE It’s my pleasure, as President of Scottish Bakers, to welcome you to the 22nd World Championship Scotch Pie Awards, the first we’ve been able to organise since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. This is a unique competition which brings together bakers and butchers over a common goal – to find Scotland’s best pie! Over the last two years I’ve been constantly amazed by the resilience shown by bakers and butchers in the face of adversity, and so for that you are all food heroes. But as we celebrate all of today’s winners, especially our 2022 Scotch Pie Champion, I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the organising committee and the team at Bakers House who, together with head judge, Ian Nelson, put in an incredible effort to ensure the competition could go ahead this year under new COVID-safe protocols. Thanks must also be paid to the team of over 50 volunteer judges who bravely tasted over 400 products to help us reach the final list of winners. Well done to all of today’s worthy winners and I hope that you all benefit from the publicity this competition can generate.
