2023 Swimming Records
We are thrilled to report the record-breaking performances of our talented swimmers at the recent carnivals. Their dedication, hard work, and discipline have paid off in some remarkable achievements, At the Junior and Middle Carnival, Ella Hutchison broke the record for the 50m Backstroke in the 11 years Girls category with an impressive time of 42.41 seconds, beating the previous record held by Ellyse Kruger in 2019. Chloe Harm also delivered an outstanding performance, taking a full second off the previous record for the 13 years Girls 50m Freestyle, which was held by Ellyse Kruger in 2021.
In the 15 years Girls category, Ellyse Kruger continued her record-breaking form, lowering two longstanding records that had stood for 21 years since 2002. She set a new mark of 38.78 seconds in the 50m Breaststroke, previously held by Sarah Bourke | Class of 2004, and a snappy 28.61 seconds in the 50m Freestyle.
The standout performance of the day came from Bailey Harm, who set an incredible five new records across a range of events. Bailey’s new marks in the 200m Individual Medley, 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, and 50m Butterfly were all outstanding achievements. These records were previously held by some of the most well-regarded swimmers in our school’s history, including Max Ackermann | Class of 2009, and Will Gilmore | Class of 2021
