Louw’s most memorable experiences at SCOTS PGC were being part of the First XV and being coached under Willie Liebenberg. The rugby season was filled with many wins and losses; in the end, finishing runners-up in the finals in 2018 was a true highlight. Louw’s passion for rugby stayed with him out of school, and he returned to rugby in 2020, but this time as a coach for SCOTS Under 13s’. Whilst continuing his passion for rugby through being a player and coach, Louw is also reaching the end of his university degree and will be a Registered Nurse by early next year.

This year’s First XV earned themselves a spot in the Grand Final of the Darling Downs Super Schools Cup against Faith Lutheran College. The competition draws players from surrounding Independant schools who are not in the GPS competition. Competing schools have a great love and affiliation with rugby and are keen to grow and develop their players. Congratulations to the boys on a wonderful season! Our 13s and 15s narrowly missed making their respective Grand Finals after solid semi-finals performances. We’re looking forward to the 2023 season.

FROM THE COLLEGE Celebrating Book Week

DREAMING WITH EYES OPEN | Our favourite book characters leapt off the pages right into our classrooms with the annual Book Week dressup assemblies. From Hermione Granger to Alice in Wonderland’s white rabbit, our students from Prep through to Year 12 really embraced the opportunity to ‘Dream with their eyes wide open’ and revel in all the joy that is ‘Book Week’.

Rory Macfarlane, son of Dugald MacFarlane (Class of 1984) has just returned home from a 5-week tour of Scotland playing as part of the Brisbane Boys’ College Pipe Band. Rory played 26 shows the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo as well many other competitions during his time there.

Past Student descendants

This year we celebrated Jesse Bohm’s success on gaining selection in the U18 Queensland Schoolboys Rugby Union squad who played their National competition in Sydney during July. Jesse is son of Helen Bohm (nee Hughes and Class of 1998).

HIGHLIGHTS

Anyone who knows Robert Auger (Class of 1993) is well aware of his love of rugby and passion for the Thisgame.year his son, Will, played his first season in the SCOTS PGC Rugby First XV - a special occasion for both Robert and Will! May 2022 floods saw Briggs Oval caught in the deep, and our iconic picket fence has pulled up stumps and declared it’s time to retire.

We ask you to whack a few 6s our way and help us achieve the required run rate to ensure a new innings is played.
