Out and about with the Headmaster Mr David Gates
The Year 7-12 Swimming Carnival last Friday was a wonderful day of competition for our new College at Bathurst Aquatic Centre. I wish to thank the students for the way they approached the day with such enthusiasm and commitment, the House Captains for their leadership and the staff for their roles as officials. I particularly wish to thank Mr Scott Gardner, Mrs Kay Nelson and Mr Justin Adams for their organisation of the event. Congratulations to Mawson House for winning the inaugural Scots All Saints College Year 7-12 Swimming Carnival. I enjoyed attending the first ‘Big Night Out’ on Friday evening which showcased some amazing musical talent from our students along with guest artists, Smith & Jones. The seniors students had a great deal of fun after a busy day at the swimming carnival. Practice for the Highland Society Debutante Ball began this week with rehearsals every Tuesday night until the event which will be held at Bathurst Panthers on Saturday 11 May. Scots All Saints College have 22 couples involved in learning a wide range of traditional Scottish Ballroom dances over the next two months. The students certainly had a great deal of fun at the first practice this week. Gillian and I are involved with the event through transporting the boarding students and supporting the Highland Society Committee and dance teachers each Tuesday night with our students. The Highland Society are a local group who raise funds for local charity and this Ball is one of their main fundraising events. The Ball is for Year 11 girls and their partners. Parents and friends join with the students for a wonderful night of traditional Scottish Ballroom Dancing.
