A conversation with the Head of College Mr John Weeks
A school term of many twists and turns! Thank you to all members of our College Community, staff, parents and students for the support you have given each other over this past term. While there have been restrictions and disappointments, we have worked hard and found other ways to keep teaching and learning going and, importantly, to stay connected. I particularly commend the teaching and support staff to you. They have not missed a beat and while remote learning methods are not perfect; they have worked exceptionally hard to maintain high standards of teaching. I am very proud of them all! While we have been focused on supporting all students, the commitment to Year 12 has been exceptional. That commitment will be ongoing throughout Term 4, right through to the HSC, with ongoing teaching and seminars to keep them motivated, on track and connected. And yes, we plan to celebrate their time at school and, in faith, have booked venues for the Valedictory Assembly and Valedictory Dinner. We are also making a Valedictory video to acknowledge all of them. These details will Campus East (Scots) Senior School, Boarding (Years 9-12) 4173 O’Connell Road BATHURST NSW 2795

be communicated separately to Year 12 students and parents. The term ahead is scheduled to start on Tuesday, 5 October 2021. The College will work towards this date in the hope that restrictions for our region will be lifted. Clearly the next two weeks of holidays are crucial as our community battles the coronavirus outbreak. Throughout the holiday period, the College will provide you with regular updates on the changing health landscape as it applies to school operations for Term 4. As I said, the College is well prepared for the new term with our staff working through the requirements of Health advice and orders, as they apply to them personally, professionally as well as to the physical structures and operations of the College. Holidays are almost here… it is time to close up the virtual classrooms, get outside, move about, catch up face-to-face as restrictions ease and though it has been difficult… count our many blessings. God Bless.
