A conversation with the Head of College
upcoming major events
Mr John Weeks
Just a few weeks ago I asked the students in our Middle School (Years 5-8) to write about their understanding of our school motto “All For Christ.” I have over 100 well thought out responses from individuals and groups – how good is that? What is so impressive is the depth of understanding our young people have about Christ and his teachings. Here are just a few of the responses I received. “All for Christ means we respect God in everything we do. We respect his creations and make people happy. God is the creator of life, love and faith and we make our decision in His name. One in faith, one in glory, one in grace” – Year 5 students. “Scots All Saints motto, All For Christ, means to share each other’s ideas and opinions, respect each other and be compassionate, kind and helpful towards others and to give each other the best shot at the future. We’re a Christian school and we try to follow in Jesus’ footsteps. God is the creator and ruler of the universe, we should worship and praise him. We have respect for him.” – Year 8 students. When I attend school assemblies I am also moved by the prayers which are written and delivered by our students. They are thoughtful and respectful with a focus on others – they reflect the heart of our students. A quote I remember about prayer goes something like this “Prayer becomes more meaningful as we share with Christ all things – our experiences, our gratitude, our needs and to know He is listening”. Praying for our College; our students, staff, families and all of our activities is an opportunity to unite in purpose as a community that is “All For Christ.” Each term parents are invited to the Scots All Saints Prayer meeting to pray for our College. The first meeting will take place on Wednesday 11 September at 10:30 am on the All Saints Campus, Eglinton Road. Our Prayer leader is Denise Weeks and all are welcome.
