A conversation with the Head of College Mr John Weeks

The Commonwealth Games I have really enjoyed watching our young athletes compete at Birmingham in the Commonwealth Games. There are many things to be admired about the success; the gold, silver and bronze medals and the big smiles that go with them! Impressive as these results have been, the thought which stands out most for me are the stories behind these young people; stories of dedication, hard work, resilience to overcome all health, injury and the gratefulness towards family, coaches and friends who have assisted them to compete at such a high level. Many of these athletes are still in their teens, some just a couple of years past Year 12. I hope that as our young people make their way through school, they will be inspired to set their future goals, be dedicated and determined, make no excuses and work collaboratively with teachers, friends and family to make the best of their time at school. In life, let’s all aim for a gold medal in everything we do. With that in mind, good luck Year 12, as you begin your Trial HSC examinations next week.
