I hope that you have all had some quality family time over the holidays. The third week always makes such a difference. There has been a lot happening over the break. In addition to the complete renovation of Ives House and the airconditioning in boarding houses last holidays, there has been a number of upgrades over the past three weeks.

Unfortunately, coronavirus developments do not seem to be as good as I’d hoped over the holidays. The numbers in Victoria are a worry but hopefully the measures put in place by the NSW Government and Health Authorities will keep us safe. It has highlighted the fact that we are definitely not out the other side of COVID-19 just yet.

Everyone needs to remain vigilant.

However, I believe the measures we put in place last term will continue to be appropriate with some relaxing of restrictions for town leave and overnight/ weekend leave. continued page 2

Boarding News From the Director of Boarding Town Leave There will be three (Friday 3:30pm - 5:00 pm, Saturday 2:00pm - 4:00pm and Sunday 2:00pm 4:00pm) opportunities for boarders to go into town to get supplies but they may choose only one of these time slots each weekend. This should give students a chance to buy what they need and to get off campus for a period of time without exposing them too much to a possible contact.

Overnight/Weekend Leave Leave home will continue as normal. Overnight/ weekend leave may be approved to members of the SASC community only at this stage. Again, we are looking to minimise any contact with people who are not part of our College community.

The College Health Clinic will continue to assess students as they were in Term 2. If students present to the health clinic parents will be contacted and students will be taken for COVID19 testing. They will remain in the clinic until parents come to pick them up or until 5pm. At which time (if parents have been unable to pick up their child) they will return to the boarding house and be in isolation within the boarding houses in single rooms with allocated bathroom facilities until parents are able collect their child. The nursing staff will continue to provide advice over the phone for boarding staff as required.

I wish you all the best for Term 3. Please do not hesitate to call me for any reason, at any time, should you have any questions, concerns or comments. I truly believe that communication and conversation are vital in our partnership.

Boarding News From the Boarder Parents & Friends Association A big cheery hello to all Boarder Parents at the beginning of a fresh new year at Scots All Saints College. To those families whose children have joined the College this year, a heartfelt welcome and I look forward to seeing many familiar and new faces on the return to school next Wednesday.

As you may be aware, all College families automatically become members of the Scots All Saints College P&F Association, we encourage you cultivate both new and existing friendships through the Boarder & whole College P&F Association. A reminder though, should you wish to specifically receive correspondence from the Boarder P&F please email our super Secretary Sarah Lindsay, so your family can be added to our database.

early on the Saturday morning, an agenda and time will be emailed to the Boarder database by mid-February. That evening is also a whole College parent event to be held on the Scots Campus, keep your eye on The Roar of a Thursday for more information. This event has been created specifically with Boarder families in mind as it marks the halfway of Term 1. Thank you to the College and Mr Weeks for your consideration of Boarder Parents for this event.

Hopefully you have had the opportunity to read the SASC P&F welcome letter and commencements packs.

2020 is designated to be a year of ‘friend-raising’ as we grow together as a new College. Over the coming year new fundraising events will be established by the P&F for future years. In the event that you have any questions regarding Boarding and the Boarder P&F please feel free to contact Sarah or myself for support or clarification.

At the end of 2019 we held our inaugural Boarder Family end of year dinner at The Panorama in Bathurst.

Created as a whole boarding family event, thanks must be shared to the 120 plus parents, students, siblings and staff who attended. There were also many day families in attendance by invitation of boarder families too. It was a fabulous celebration of College, community and family. The overwhelming delight of families coming together and enjoying new connections and each other’s company was truly palpable. Keep an eye out for more fun events as the 2020 year progresses in Boarder News as well as The Roar.

I would like to particularly thank all Boarding House staff for every effort made for our children last year. A year that was exciting and hugely transitional as two great schools came together as one new visionary College. This year we welcome our new Director of Boarding Mr Anthony Le Couteur and his family to the College.
