INTRODUCTION TO INDONESIA Indonesia,

officially

The

Republic

of

Indonesia,

is

a

country

in

Southeast

Asia.

Situated between the Indian and Pacific Ocean, it is the largest island country, with more than thirteen thousand islands. It has an estimated population of over 260 million people and it's the world's most populous Muslim majority country. The world's

most

populous

island

of

Java

contains

more

than

half

of

the

country's

population.

According to the data from the Ministry of Health of Indonesia, there are 2454 hospitals around the country where most hospitals are in urban areas. Among these, 882

of

these

hospitals

are

government

owned

and

1509

are

private

hospitals.

According to the world bank data in 2012, there were 0.2 Physicians per 1000 people in Indonesia.

UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE IN INDONESIA Healthcare provision in Indonesia has traditionally been fragmented, with private insurance provision for those able to pay for it alongside basic public coverage for the poorest in specialized areas providing services to those not covered by public or private schemes. In January 2014, the Indonesian government launched Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN), a scheme to implement universal health care in Indonesia.

Under JKN, all Indonesians will receive coverage for a range of treatments via health services from public providers as well as those private organization that has opted to join the scheme. It is expected that the entire population will be covered in 2019.

The aim of the JKN itself is to grant free services for all hospitalizations in basic (class-3 hospital beds).

INTRODUCTION TO CIMSA WHO ARE WE Center for Indonesian Medical Students' Activities (CIMSA) is a non-profit and nongovernment

organization

that

is

independent,

nationalist,

non-political

and

non-

partisan with activity based programs. CIMSA consist of six standing committees related to health issues, that is Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV&AIDS, Public Health, Medical Education, Human Rights and Peace, Research Exchange and Professional Exchange. Having 29 active locals throughout Indonesia, CIMSA is affiliated with International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), the biggest students’ organization in the world who has been recognized by the United Nations.

HISTORY CIMSA was officially established on May 6th 2001 by some medical students from various cities of Indonesia based on the inclination for an organization that based on ongoing activities; utilizes the developing technology with internationally standard programs to support medical students in Indonesia. CIMSA held its first General Assembly at May 11th-13th 2001 and has been in affiliated with the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) in 2002. Since then, CIMSA has 29 locals spread in various faculties of medicine throughout Indonesia and continues to grow.

Aceh is one of the provinces in Indonesia which are strategically located in the Malacca Strait area which is an international shipping lane and is supported by natural wealth, regional cultural charm, unique history, and the legacy of the Tsunami "Tsunami Heritage". Banda Aceh, the capital city of Aceh, Is located at the northern tip of Sumatra Island. This city holds 5.33 Million inhabitants by 2020. This Coastal city is also the oldest Islamic city in Southeast Asia and Aceh is one of the World’s Best Halal Cultural Destinations. Aceh has many natural attractions that can be visited – such as beaches, waterfalls, and gardens, which are accessible and not far from Banda Aceh. To know the bitter-sweet history of Aceh, you can discover plenty of landmarks, museums, or other constructs which serve as silent witnesses of flight. PEKANBARU UNIVERSITY OF RIAU Riau University is the second-largest University in Indonesia. This university stands on 700 hectares of land surrounded by green views. Founded on October, 1st 1962, it is divided into 3 different areas, with the main campus in Bina Widya, Simpang Baru, Panam. This main campus will show you a green ecosystem, where in every spot you will see trees that are refreshing your mind.

Faculty of Medicine at University Riau is located in the middle of Pekanbaru City in Jalan Diponegoro.

Right in front of this Faculty of Medicine, there is Arifin Achmad Public Hospital which is one of the best hospitals in Riau Province where everyone can consult their health problems with great doctors and specialists.

With a strategic location, you can find churches, mosques, cafés, and restaurants near the campus.

The facility on our campus is also great and provides a lift, full AC in all classes, and also a biomolecular Laboratory. it’s no wonder that Faculty of Medicine in Riau is everyone’s go-to university.

Universitas YARSI was established by the Islamic Hospital Foundation of Indonesia on 15 April 1967.

Its status changed to YARSI Medical School of Jakarta in 1969.

When the university was first established it had just one medical study program. BANDUNG PADJAJARAN UNIVERSITY Universitas Padjadjaran (Padjadjaran University or UNPAD) is one of the oldest government universities in Indonesia, which was built on 11 September 1957.

The first faculties founded are Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Economics, Teaching Education Faculty. The main campus is in Jatinangor, Sumedang, and has two faculties (Economy and Law), plus most of the post-graduate programs are located in Dipati Ukur, Bandung.

Dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) is a hospital located in Bandung, precisely in the way Pasteur 38 Bandung number 40 161. This hospital is one of the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in the form service company. Previously the hospital was named RS Rancabadak. The people of Bandung still use these names and its logo is still visible in the form of pictures of rhino having a bath in the ranch (swamp in Sundanese). This hospital is now led by a major director Prof. Cissy Rachiana Sudjana PrawiraKartasasmita, Sp.A. (K), Ph.D. Hasan Sadikin Hospital was built during the Dutch colonial rule in 1920 but only officially opened on October 15, 1923. Was known then is Algemeene Bandoengche Het Ziekenhuis, and later amended in 1927 becomes a town Ziekenhuis Juliana. At that time, the new hospital capacity was 300 beds.

Yogyakarta (Javanese: ꦔꦪꦺꦴꦒꦾꦏꦂꦠ) is the capital city of Special Region of Yogyakarta in Indonesia and also the one and only Indonesian royal city still ruled by a monarchy. Renowned as a center of Indonesian education, Yogyakarta is home to a large student population and dozens of schools and universities, earning the nickname "Kota Pelajar" translated as City of Students. Yogyakarta is regarded as an important center for classical Javanese fine arts and culture, with its breathtaking natural sights.

In the heart of Yogyakarta, Gadjah Mada University is a public research university founded on December 19, 1949 and is also the first and foremost university founded after Indonesia's independence. With the tagline "Locally Rooted, Globally Respected", Universitas Gadjah Mada now has 18 faculties and is widely known as the largest and one of the most prestigious state universities in Indonesia, especially on its Faculty of Medicine. DUTA WACANA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY

The city of Yogyakarta, a special city in Indonesia that is still ruled by a sultan, is the capital of the Province of D.I. Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta is a city full of culture, a culture that can be felt at every end of the city, from the buildings that look 'traditional' to the typical food in this city that attracts any tourist that comes by. Moreover, this city is known as ‘the city of students'.

Duta Wacana Christian University is one of the universities located in Yogyakarta, the Faculty of Medicine of Duta Wacana Christian University was established in 2009. The University is located in the central of the city itself, where students can easily access Public transportation, accommodation, hospital, and other things. UNIVERSITAS SEBELAS MARET Surakarta is a city in Central Java, Indonesia. At the present time, the name Surakarta is used in formalgovernment situations, while the name Solo refers more to a general mention. The word Sura in Javanese means "courage" and Karta means "prosperous". The east side of the city is crossed by a river that is immortalized in one of the keroncong songs, Bengawan Solo. Together with Yogyakarta, Surakarta is the heir to the Islamic Mataram Kingdom.

Sebelas Maret University is an Indonesian public university in Surakarta, Indonesia. It was officially founded on March 11, 1976. It was named Universitas Negeri Surakarta (State University of Surakarta), hence was abbreviated UNS. UNS has a saying of Mangesthi Luhur Ambangun Nagara in Old Javanese, which is translated into Aspire Sublimely to Build the Country as its motto. SURABAYA

UNIVERSITY OF AIRLANGGA

Surabaya is the second-largest city and the capital of the East Java province in Indonesia. It is located 800 km east of Jakarta (the capital city of Indonesia), and 435 km northwest of Denpasar, Bali. The word ‘Surabaya’ means brave in facing any kind of danger. Surabaya is known as "The City of Heroes” because it played an important role during the war of Independence and thousands of people died in the rebellion. Until this day, the locals have embraced the term diversity and maintained their welcoming attitude toward others.

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is one of the highly reputable public universities and is the second-oldest university in Indonesia located in Surabaya. UNAIR has one of the oldest faculty of medicine in Indonesia located on Campus A, just across from Dr. Soetomo General Hospital.

JEMBER UNIVERSITY OF JEMBER Jember regency, located in East Java is the third urban area after Surabaya and Malang in its province. It’s famous for its fused ethnicities, mainly Javanese and Madurese. Both ethnicities take over the city and create a culture known as “The Pandalungan Culture”.

Jember is also known for its campus and Jember University being the main public university.

University of Jember was established on 10 November 1964 as The Green Campus. One of its faculty, the medical faculty promotes Agromedicine as they promote health and safety among local farmers. Jember is also known for its tobacco garden farms and its famous fashion carnaval called Jember Fashion Carnaval.

MUHAMMADIYAH UNIVERSITY OF PURWOKERTO

Purwokerto is located in the mid of Java Island within the province of Central Java near the base of Mount Slamet, the second-tallest volcano in Central Java. The city is bisected by the Kali Kranji (Kranji River). It lies near two major east-west roads, Sudirman Street and Gatot Subroto Street.

Purwokerto has a tropical rainforest climate (Af) with moderate rainfall in July and August and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the remaining months.

Purwokerto Muhammadiyah University (UMP) is the largest private university in western Central Java, which is accredited B. UMP is ranked 2nd best Muhammadiyah Universities (PTM) in Central Java and 6th in Indonesia. UMP is actively developing international cooperation with 45 world-renowned universities.

Jenderal Soedirman University is a state university that is the pride of Purwokerto with one of the most popular faculties being the Faculty of Medicine.

Unsoed's medical faculty was formed on March 1, 2001 starting from a doctor's education program then on April 19, 2007 became the faculty of medicine and health sciences. Until now, the medical faculty has had four undergraduate study programs.

Despite it being a modern city and is also well known for being an industrial center in East Java, Surabaya still holds its local culture and wisdom very dearly. Universitas Wijaya Kusum Surabaya (Wijaya Kusuma University), also known as UWKS, is a private university located in South Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. UWKS was founded in 1989 and is a university that focuses to create new high-quality students by keeping good academic quality and improving the student's soft skills. Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Sido-arjo (Sidoarjo Regional General Hospital) is a hospital that serves as academic hospital for Wijaya Kusum University.
