A very warm welcome to our

2O18/19 ST ANDREVVS 2O18/19 CONCERT ST ANDREVVS SEASON CONCERT SEASON

Visiting artists and musical stories weave their way through our concerts this Season as we welcome a host of exceptional international conductors and soloists – friends both old and new – to make music with our wonderful Orchestra.

Our concerts span four centuries from the 18th Century world of Mozart and Beethoven, to Nordic music from Nielsen and Stenhammar; and a taste of France including a concert marking the 150th anniversary of the death of the great Hector Berlioz. There is also brand new music from our Associate Composer Martin Suckling in a special concert marking 100 years of the Armistice. We are delighted to welcome back conductor Andrew Manze and pianist Francesco Piemontesi, who continue their exploration of Mozart Piano Concertos. The remarkable French pianist Bertrand Chamayou joins us in April to perform Ravel’s lush Concerto in G. We are particularly excited to welcome the enormously talented cellist Nicolas Altstaedt and the extraordinary oboist François Leleux – they take to the stage as both soloist and conductor. François Leleux will play and conduct a performance of Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’Eté with the captivating soprano Carolyn Sampson. Artists making their debuts with the SCO include the remarkable British clarinettist Mark Simpson, performing Nielsen’s concerto. This is the concerto he played when he won the BBC Young Musician of the Year 2006 title when he was just 17. I do hope that you enjoy discovering our new Season and I very much look forward to seeing you at our concerts. Gavin Reid Chief Executive Scottish Chamber Orchestra
