Cykelnerven is the ultimate charity challenge you can sign up for on a bike. 250 riders sign up every year to ride the legendary Tour de France-mountains - all to fundraise funds into MS research. Its a long and uphill battle for all of the families, that are affected by MS. In Denmark over 18.000 people are diagnosed with MS - they are the people our riders fight for.
Every year our riders accepts the challenge - not only to ride the mountains, but to fundraise towards important research into MS - a disease that still has no cure.
As a sponsor for Cykelnerven you are not only giving funds to the research in MS - you are giving hope to all the people that are fighting for the ultimate goal: a world without MS.
Until that goal has been reached the Danish MS Society works tirelessly to create better lives for people affected by MS. . People who fight against MS every single day.

WHAT IS MS?

In Denmark more than 18.000 live with MS today and that number has been doubled over that last 20 years - and each year another 600 people will get the diagnosis in Denmark alone.
The majority (66%) of the people getting the diagnosis are women between 20 and 40 years old.
What is MS?
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body.
Multiple sclerosis is a disease that impacts the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves, which make up the central nervous system and controls everything we do. The exact cause of MS is unknown, but we do know that something triggers the immune system to attack the CNS. The resulting damage to myelin, the protective layer insulating wire-like nerve fibers, disrupts signals to and from the brain. This interruption of communication signals causes unpredictable symptoms such as numbness, tingling, mood changes, memory problems, pain, fatigue, blindness and/or paralysis. Everyone’s experience with MS is different and these losses may be temporary or long lasting.
