CLUB NEWS
Dear Members of Scioto: The Annual Meeting of the voting membership was held this past month. The approval of the additional three (3%) percent dues increase will be reflected on your December statements. The voting members also approved an addition to the Code of Regulations to have an Architect of Record for the golf course and approved some clarifications of existing statutes for Leave of Absence and members in the wait pool for Full Membership. The Code of Regulations is available to all members on the website. December is a special month at the Club with the holiday and family activities. By the time of this newsletter, the Club should be decorated in holiday splendor. We just completed a memorable Gingerbread House decorating weekend with 400 houses and nearly 1,600 family members enjoying this holiday tradition to kick off the season (see Chef Tim’s stats). Thanksgiving dinner served to 330 at the Club, along with the 120 “Turkey to-go” orders is a remarkable achievement by Chef Tim Viton, Matt Livingston, and their staff. It is an incredible amount of food prepared by our culinary team to help make the holiday special for the membership. Visits with Santa, Santa Brunches, Candlelight Dinners with the Upper Arlington H.S. performers, the Member Holiday Party and the various member sponsored parties are part of the upcoming busy month. As always, I want to thank the membership for their generous support of our staff with the annual Holiday Fund, which will be shared with nearly 200 staff members. I am amazed yearly how this membership supports the Evans Scholarship Fund, the Holiday and Emergency funds for staff and most recently the employee scholarship fund. It is incredibly important as it differentiates Scioto as an employer of choice. The staff also looks for ways to help those less fortunate as we adopt an elementary school and try to supply needed basic comforts for the children in need. If you would like to assist our effort, clothing and food bins are located at the receptionist area and in the fitness center. As our leadership has changed, and new committees are formed, I would like to thank the member volunteers who give of their time and energy to assist our staff in operating and directing our Club. There are nearly 100 members involved on the various committees which provide valuable insight from constituencies in the membership which enables input to the Trustees and staff. The newly formed committees are listed on the website. With all the festivities occurring this month, if you are hosting guests at the Club, please remind them of the dress codes and cell phone usage policies. Please double check your reservations made on ForeTees for the Holiday events such as visits with Santa or Candlelight Dinners. The Member Holiday Party is a wonderful event for our members and their adult family members or family guests. We hope you enjoy the splendor of the season and I hope the Club adds to your family’s holiday traditions. On behalf or our leadership team, our staff members, and our families, we are thankful for being a part of this wonderful Club. We wish you all a safe and wonderful Holiday Season and the best wishes for a fabulous 2023.
