INPUT DEVICES

The input devices used to control the pointer on computer screen are called Pointing Devices.Apointer is a small symbol that appears on screen.It is also called cursor.Pointing devices can also be called as screen controlling devices.These devices can be used to select text,graphics and other objects like buttons,icons and menus commands.

MOUSE

Mouse is the most commonly used pointing device.It is a small device having a minimum weight.Mouse is moved on a flat surface to control the cursor on screen.It is attached to the to the computer by a cable or wireless connection.

Amouse is has usually two or three buttons and a scroll wheel over it.Buttons are used to select something like a file and scroll wheel is used for scrolling a page up and down.The optical mouse uses light reflection instead of ball to control the movement of pointer

TOUCH PAD

Atouchpad is a pointing device having a small,flat surface over which the user moves his finger.The movement of finger moves the cursor on screen.It can also be used as an alternate to a mouse.It is also called Trackpad.

A touch pad also has one or more buttons near it.These buttons work like mouse buttons.Touch pads are commonly used with notebook computers.
