The Schulich Master of Accounting (MAcc) is a unique CPA-accredited program that fast-tracks students from diverse academic backgrounds toward a professional accounting career. Taught by one of Canada’s leading accounting faculties, the MAcc combines rigorous academics with real-world case learning to prepare graduates for the CPA Common Final Examination (CFE) and beyond. Real World Perspectives

Our program is unique with its use of the Schulich Accounting Case Method to teach accounting from the introductory level onwards. In addition to covering the technical aspects of accounting, this case method of teaching emphasizes critical thinking, analytical, leadership, and oral and written communication skills. What to Expect

The Schulich MAcc prepares you for success in the complex field of accounting and, depending on your academic background, can fast-track you through CPA Ontario’s Professional Education Program (PEP). Graduates with a four-year Canadian business degree may be eligible for Advanced Standing to start at Term 2 in September. Schulich BBA graduates from the CPA stream — and, in very exceptional cases, graduates from other accredited programs — may be eligible for the Accelerated MAcc program to start at Term 3 in May.

Accreditation & Advanced Standing

Accredited by CPA Ontario, MAcc graduates are eligible to write the Common Final Examination (CFE) upon completion of the program. Graduates of the MAcc program may be eligible for up to one term of advanced standing in the Schulich MBA.

* The Diploma in Intermediate Accounting (DIAc) is an 8-month exit diploma for Master of Accounting (MAcc) students who elect to graduate after completion of Term 2 of the MAcc program.

** Students who complete Terms 1, 2 and 3 of the Master of Accounting program may exit with a Diploma in Advanced Accounting (DAAc).

GAIN THE OPPORTUNITY TO WRITE THE COMMON FINAL EXAMINATION (CFE) UPON GRADUATION

Participate in meaningful dialogue with highly engaged instructors about relevant, real-world accounting applications. With a focus on case-based integrative learning, the broad curriculum will help you to accomplish two important objectives.

First, you will master key accounting functions and hone your ability to make decisions within legal, financial, regulatory and ethical framework competency areas, preparing you for the Common Final Examination (CFE).

To support and accommodate working professionals, Term 4 is offered on evenings and weekends to prepare you with the final tools you need to successfully complete the CFE and accelerate your career.

Prerequisite courses, taken at the undergraduate level, in: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Statistics, Canadian Business Law or Corporate Finance.

Schulich BBA Accounting Stream Students

CPA approved prerequisite courses, taken at the undergraduate level, in: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Statistics/Quantitative Methods, Corporate Finance, Canadian Business Law, Information Systems, Introduction to Financial Accounting, Introduction to Management Accounting, Intermediate Financial Accounting. No partial Advanced Standing available.1

A minimum B (6.0) average in all CPA courses. No individual mark less than C in any CPA-defined core courses. For a list of which courses are defined as core with CPA, please refer to the MAcc website. Refer to the Schulich website for complete prerequisite requirements.

GMAT or GRE (the GMAT/GRE Online Exam is acceptable) (Waived for individuals who have graduated from Canadian universities within the last five years)

Applicants must produce proof of language proficiency in one of the three ways listed:

• Proof of study completed in English: 2 years minimum (must be full-time study) at an accredited university in a country (or institution) where English is the official language of instruction.

• IELTS (academic test): 7.0 (minimum 6.5 on each dimension). The IELTS online Academic Test is acceptable.

• TOEFL: 100 (minimum 23 on each dimension). The TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition test is acceptable.
