It is w it h a heavy heart t hat I m ust inform t he club of t he sudden loss of Mary Alice Hill on Thursday, January 26. She w as t he first fem ale Schonesland President in 2015 and 2016. Her love and light w ill be great ly m issed by all.
She w as alw ays t here w it h a sm ile, a laugh, and an ear t o list en. In her honor t he annual ladies' drive w ill be renam ed t he MA Ladies' Drive. Mem orial service inform at ion w ill be em ailed w hen finalized.

Over t he last few years I have been fort unat e t o be able t o w int er in Scot t sdale Arizona The sun, golf, hiking and avoiding t he ice and snow of t he m idw est all have proven irresist ible. But in addit ion t o t he above, I have grow n t o love t he car cult ure t hat flourishes in t he desert . Wit h a m et ropolit an populat ion of 5,000,000 it is roughly 10 t im es larger t han t hat of Des Moines. Com bine t hat fact w it h no salt or brine on t he roads, no sea spray from an ocean and no pot holes, it 's easy t o see w hy t here is an abundance of w onderful cars.

When he and his car collct ion m oved t o Arizona he built a 50's st yle diner at t he base of Pinnacle Peak t o feat ure an ever changing decor of his ow n cars. Skip: I rem em ber w hen I w as a kid how a Finnish indust rialist donat ed t w o Porsche 356 cars t o t he Finnish Police in t he sixt ies as police cars and have int rigued m e ever since

Skip: My first Porsche w as a 1999 Boxst er t hat I bought new in Det roit and brought w it h m e t o Des Moines w hen w e m oved here t he first t im e in 2004. It t raveled w it h us t o Chesapeake and t hen back t o Des Moines and is st ill ow ned by one of t he Schonesland Porsche Club m em bers.
