Here are some examples of what has been done recently and what it cost: • The granite slabs installed last fall at a Friends Work Day for the Trail of Reflections seating area cost about $3,800. • Stain used for signs, benches, shelters, and other

What’s new at Schmeeckle? A lot! By Jim Buchholz Schmeeckle Reserve Interim Director A flurry of change is underway at Schmeeckle Reserve. Cardinals and chickadees are singing their mating songs. Great horned owls are laying eggs. Snow fleas (springtails) are hopping over the melting snow. The human world, too, is filled with change. Ron Zimmerman, Schmeeckle’s only Director for 36 years, retired at the end of December. I am honored to take on the Interim Director position in his place. And I realize that I have big shoes to fill. Ron guided
