It was a perfect fall morning to walk to school! And that’s just what several Carrollton elementary school students did Wednesday, Oct. 23, with volunteers from six different bus drop off locations in Carrollton. It was the 14th annual “Walk to
School Day” event. According to school officials, students look forward to this activity each year and enjoy having the volunteers walk and talk with them. “It is a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate and teach safety measures and wellness as our precious children walk to school,” Carrollton Elementary staff members added. A total of 33 individuals volunteered to walk students from the six bus drop off locations to the Carrollton elementary buildings on 2nd and 3rd Sts.
NE, along with 8 staff members and 3 committee members, according to Christopher Barto, Dean of Students at Carrollton elementary school. They included: Municipal Building (Chris Barto coordinator at that location) – Matt Miller, Carrollton Mayor William Stoneman, Carol McIntire, Connie Trushel, Kristin Yeager, Brittany Tangler.

By NANCY SCHAAR FPS Correspondent Children of Carrollton will have some new playground equipment to look forward to this spring at Ann Green Park. Council agreed Monday night to purchase a large piece of playground equipment that will cost the village $54,964. The village received a grant of $46,181 for the rest of the purchase price of the toy. The equipment will be delivered this winter and will be installed in the spring at Ann Green Park as soon as weather permits. Village administrator Mark Wells updated council members on the installation of new storm sewers on Courtview Drive. There have been many problems and issues in recent years with flooding and run off because the allotment did not have storm sewers. The village is hopeful that the equipment being installed will resolve those issues. In other business council:

Wells noted the damage to the old tree was more noticable once it was down. “Mayor Bill Stoneman and I thank Rick and Bruce Carlton for donating the tree and the Carrollton Civic Club for getting the project done,” said Wells. “The street department employees removed the old tree and planted the new one. The Civic Club members put stakes in to make sure it grows straight and shored it up. We are very appreciative of everyone working on this project.”
