Harrison Central Youth football camp is another success
BY ED BANKS (News-Herald Sportswriter)
CADIZ—Last week, 43 Harrison Central kindergarten through second-grade students concluded a football camp presented by the Harrison Central varsity football coaches and players. Both boys and girls participated in the camp; the drills and spills of the training were absorbed with youthful pride. The camp, now in its second year (not held during 2020 due to the pandemic), took place inside Wagner Stadium. And as in the past, it was scheduled to conclude with some flag football action by the participants.

“This is a good camp for the kids of Harrison Central,” said head varsity football coach Anthony Hayes. “There were kids from outside the districts that wanted to participate, but the attendance from the kids within this district alone made it a nice size and manageable endeavor. I was very proud of the kids, the players, and the coaches that represented the 2021 camp. Our coaches made a lot of sacrifices to put this camp on this year, and they remained vigilant in putting forth an honest interest in what their role was in the program. I want to thank the coaches and all that had a part in this year’s camp,” he added.
While anxiously attending on Thursday evening, the campers arrived in full spirit and ready to test their skills. All 43 proudly wore their Husky T-shirts and orange flags and postured as if they were in full dress for an all-out tackle football game. In getting to the business at hand, the kids were divided into four groups where they put their new-learned knowledge to the test. With a healthy group of parents on hand to show support, the 2021 Harrison Central Youth Football Clinic ended in grand fashion as touchdowns and some unscheduled tackling closed the door until next season.
