Schertz Utility Billing Now Offering Optional Irrigation Meters

Schertz Utility Billing is now offering residents the opportunity to purchase a separate meter to specifically monitor irrigation consumption. This optional additional meter will separate irrigation usage from home water usage. Using this information, the City will be able to accurately assess sewer charges rather than estimating sewer charges through winter averaging. A plumbing/irrigation building permit is required for an irrigation deduct meter installation. For those that wish to water in the winter, this program could pay for itself in less than 1 year.

Interested residents should first contact a licensed plumber that is registered with the State of Texas, and the plumber will file and complete permitting requirements with the City. Residents will also need to fill out the residential application and return it to the Utility Billing Office for their records and to update the account. Both the meter costs of $315.90 and the plumbing cost will be the responsibility of the resident.
