Scavo is the ancient technique of manipulating blown glass to replicate excavated archaeological relics originated on the island of Murano. When seeing this application for the first time applied to Richard Jolley's work, one is immediately enchanted by these large birds that have a timeless and magical quality. Appealing to what is classic and old, these rough, ancient looking sculptures of birds on pomegranate laden pedestals seem to be something from the past, yet clearly sculpted by Richard’s hands.
