What is one of your favourite places in the Kimberley?

King George River is a real highlight. It’s like a cathedral of the earth when you’re underneath those 80-odd-metre sandstone cliffs and you can feel a buzz running right through them. It’s one of the great thrills of the whole coastline.

How will guests experience Indigenous culture?

The Kimberley was the most likely entry point for the first settlers 65,000 years ago. This great plateau almost joined Indonesia after the last ice age. You will see rock paintings from the world’s oldest continuous culture, telling their stories through the centuries.

What kind of wildlife can guests expect to see in the Kimberley?

Camden Sound is one of the world’s great humpback whale nurseries. And we’re lucky to be sailing there right in the middle of the migration season.

Ashmore Reef has an unusually high density and abundance of seas snakes. Over 100,000 bird species breed there, dugongs are there.

It’s probably got the highest and most diverse marine fish fauna in all Western Australia. In Prince Frederick Harbour you can see crocodiles on the mud flats when the tide recedes.

Chef’s Table @ Elements

How can guests make the most of their culinary journey?

I always say: try something you would never normally order. It’s very easy to elevate a lobster. Instead, we want to surprise with really humble ingredients. When guests say ‘I’ve never had food like this’, then I know we are doing the right thing.

What inspires you when creating these ultra-luxury dining experiences?

A lot of people say cruise ships aren’t as good as restaurants on land. So, I want to prove them all wrong. And that comes down to the crew - we truly believe we can make a change here. We’ve done it in many aspects already, like elevating street food to luxury at the Night Market experience.

Truly all-inclusive premium beverages+

Choose from over 130 whiskeys at the Scenic Lounge Bar, sip on a cocktail in your cabana near the Sky Bar or unwind in the Observation Lounge with a specialty tea or coffee. Our skilled bartenders will craft the perfect drink to enhance your on board experience.

Does Scenic cater to dietary requirements?

Our chefs cater to all dietary needs with diverse options, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meals, available in our restaurants and room service. Make sure to add your needs to your booking.

Packing Essentials for your Cruise

One of the best things about taking a cruise is that you can visit multiple destinations, but only need to unpack once. Here are some of the essentials to include when sailing in Australia, South Pacific and New Zealand:

A long sleeved, loose-fitting, light-coloured UV shirt or rashie to protect your skin from the sun whilst helping to keep you cool during landings.

Lightweight rain jacket, ideal for any choppy water or cool mornings/evenings.

Pants which can be rolled up, shorts or a cotton skirt/dress are ideal for shore landings via Zodiac.

A small size, secure day bag. Plastic zip-lock bags to ensure your gear stays dry. We suggest using a drybag for expensive and fragile camera equipment.

Comfortable, broken-in trail walking shoes or light hiking boots.

Wet-landing shoes such as aqua shoes, all terrain sandals or reef walkers.

High SPF-factor 30+ sunscreen and a hatpreferably one that is foldable, or at least a baseball cap.

Scenic Eclipse - Oceania Guide 30
Vitality Pool

Workout gear for sessions in the PURE: Yoga & Pilates studio or at Scenic Eclipse’s state-of-the-art gym. Swimwear if you want to relax in the inviting Vitality Pools or enjoy water activities on postcard perfect beaches. Light jumper or scarves or shawls to layer up if it gets colder at night.

What to wear on board?

A good guideline is to keep it casual and comfortable during the day, and smart casual – or even a little dressed-up if you wish – in the evening. Some male guests choose to pack a sports coat or blazer with a collared shirt. Women may chose to wear smart dresses or attire, especially when dining at specialty restaurants or watching a performance in the theatre.
