YOUR ANTARCTICA PACKING GUIDE
You’ve booked your Expedition Voyage, and now you’re wondering what exactly you need to pack. This handy guide will explain what you need, and in turn, what you don’t need to pack for your journey of lifetime on board Scenic Eclipse, The World’s First Discovery YachtsTM.

What is provided
Scenic will provide all guests:
A wind-proof, waterproof, complimentary hooded parka especially designed for Polar voyages when you board Scenic Eclipse. This is yours to keep as a memento of your Polar experience.
Complimentary use of Polar boots for the voyage duration.

LAYERS
The best way to stay warm during your Antarctica voyage is to layer your clothes and to stay as dry as possible.
Base Layer

There is no substitute for thermal underwear (both top and bottom) as well as socks. Breathable, lightweight tops and bottoms provide warmth without bulk. Fibres that insulate and wick moisture such as polypropylene, merino wool, and other synthetics are recommended. We do not recommend clothing made from cotton or denim.

Insulation Layer
Fleece or long sleeve synthetic shirt and pants are recommended as well as a good quality polar fleece or lightweight loft jacket or vest.
Outer Layer
Your complimentary Scenic Eclipse parka will protect you from spray during Zodiac excursions, however you will need waterproof pants for every excursion. When you are on the Zodiac, there is a chance you will get wet. Many ski and snowboardtype pants now offer a high waterproof rating and are great for Antarctic conditions. Pants should be loose fitting, lightweight, breathable and wide enough to fit over your boots. Knee-high side zippers are preferred so you can get your boots on and off easily. We advise against pants that have Velcro as they can be a bio-security hazard.

FOOTWEAR Hiking Boots

If you choose to change out of your Muck boots on landings, you need to have hiking boots made of leather, Gore-Tex brand material or high waterproof material.
ACCESSORIES
We recommend accessories which protect extremities as they get cold easily.

Wool hat / beanie that covers your ears.

A neck gaiter and scarf, and preferably something that can cover your face.

Waterproof gloves and glove liners which can be useful for taking pictures and for extra warmth. We recommend bringing at least two of each item.
Essentials
Sunglasses with UV protection (polarised recommended but not required) and a strap to prevent losing them in the wind. Goggles are great for keeping the water and wind off your face when on the water or ashore.
Lip balm to protect from wind burn Camera, waterproof bag, extra memory cards and a spare battery

BAGS
Please bring a backpack for day trips ashore, preferably one that is waterproof and is large enough to carry spare clothing, cameras, water, notebooks etc.
Bring a lot of plastic zip-lock bags to ensure your gear stays dry. You can also line your daypack with a large garbage bag to keep things dry. We suggest using a drybag for expensive and fragile camera equipment.

Important
Check with your airline for the luggage allowance between your departure airport and Buenos Aires.
Buenos Aires and Ushuaia includes one checked bag of 23kg (50 lbs) and one carry on item of 8kg (17 lbs). If you want to exceed this weight, there will be an extra baggage fee payable at the airport at the time
Please plan ahead. We recommend that you place your order 45 to 30 days prior to your embarkation date to ensure that you are fully prepared for your adventure and can take advantage of the rental service.
