WEAR RED FOR HEART HEALTH
CROÍ WEAR RED TO WORK 2024 Valentine's Day is an opportunity to turn your workplace red for heart health in support of Croí, a leading organisation fighting against heart disease and stroke. Individuals, workplaces, and community groups are encouraged to don the colour red on February 14th, symbolising awareness and support for cardiovascular health. "It's a simple concept,” says Mike Cubbard, Community and Events Fundraising Co-ordinator for Croí. “We are asking people to wear red on Valentine's Day, and turn your workplace red, to raise awareness around good heart health.” The funds raised from events like these support Croí's crucial work in preventing heart disease and stroke in the west of Ireland.
The good news is that simple adjustments like maintaining a balanced diet, regular exercise, stress management, and avoiding smoking can significantly reduce risk. Croí offers a range of services, including Croí Connects, a free nurse telephone helpline providing support to those affected by heart disease and stroke. They also conduct CPR and defibrillation training for the public and healthcare professionals, making strides in education and training to empower communities. The Croí Courtyard Apartments, located at Croí Heart and Stroke Centre, provide home from home patient and carer support at times of emergency for those receiving heart or stroke care at Galway University Hospital. This Valentine's Day, wear red, share your photos on social media, and contribute to the fight against cardiovascular disease. Companies interested in participating can contact Mike Cubbard at mike@croi.ie to receive buckets, balloons, posters, and more for their workplace.
