South Carolina Nonfarm Employment Trends For July—Seasonally Adjusted The Current Employment Survey of businesses in South Carolina marked an increase of 20,100 nonfarm payroll jobs over the month to a level of 2,139,400. •
Industries that reported gains were in the Leisure and Hospitality (+9,300); Government (+5,100); Construction (+2,600); Manufacturing (+1,700); Professional and Business Services (+1,000); Financial Activities (+600); and Other Services (+400) industry.

Decreases were observed in the Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (-300); Information (-200); and Education and Health Services (-100) industry.

Retail Trade had a decrease of (-500).
From July 2020 to July 2021, South Carolina’s economy has picked up 98,000 seasonally adjusted nonfarm jobs. •
Industries with strong growth was reported in the Leisure and Hospitality (+27,700); Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+18,800); Government (+13,600); Manufacturing (+9,700); Education and Health Services (+9,500); Professional and Business Services (+8,100); Construction (+7,500); Other Services (+3,800) and Information (+700) industry.

There was a decline noticed in the Financial Activities (-1,500) industry.

Retail Trade increased (+11,900) over the period.
For the Metropolitan Statistical Areas, seasonally adjusted, total nonfarm payroll job increases were seen in Greenville (+3,800); Columbia (+2,300); Charleston (+1,700); Myrtle Beach (1,500); Florence (+400); Sumter (+400); Hilton Head (+300) and Spartanburg (+200). Over the year, all the Metropolitan Statistical Areas saw an increase in seasonally adjusted payroll. Leading with employment gains were Charleston (+20,800); Greenville (+18,300); Spartanburg (+9,500); Columbia (+9,000); Myrtle Beach (+8,000); Hilton Head (+6,300); Florence (+2,400) and Sumter (+2,300).
