EAR PANTHERS, What a Difference a Year Can Make. Last year, I wrote about SCCS standing at the threshold of a transformational moment. Today, that transformation is happening all around us. Our culture is stronger, our students are thriving, and families are taking notice. This year, SCCS celebrates our highest enrollment since 2008. This is an exciting reflection of the confidence families have in our school and its future. Our students continue to raise the bar in academics, athletics and their faith. This year was also about reconnecting with the people who helped build SCCS. Our Transformational Gifts Director and I traveled to visit alumni, sharing updates, hearing their stories, and inviting them to be a part of the exciting future ahead. That future is taking shape through our Beyond Boundaries Campaign and plans for a transformational $10+ million campus project. What we imagined a year ago is becoming reality. Through every achievement and every change, however, our greatest purpose remains the same: Christ is at the center of everything we do. We are preparing students not only for college, careers and success, but for lives of faith, service and ultimately, Heaven. For SCCS, it is only up from here. Proud to be a Panther,

Ryan Wikel, ‘99 President

ENROLLMENT

momentum

ENROLLMENT INCREASE OF MORE THAN 16% IN JUST THREE YEARS

The momentum at Sandusky Central Catholic School is undeniable. Fueled by a positive school culture, caring faculty and staff, and the faith-filled leadership of President Ryan Wikel and Fr. Chris Turner, enrollment has grown from 558 students in 2023 - 2024 to 648 students in 2026. “Our strategic plan is in place and we have enrollment growth targets that we plan to meet by having what I like to call ‘an extreme family focus’,” said Mr. Wikel. But behind every number is a student who has found a place to belong. “SCCS feels like home. I love getting to know the little kids and making friends with kids older than me,” said Freshman Simona Di Rosa. At SCCS, growth is about more than enrollment. It is a reflection of a community where students are known, loved, challenged and inspired.

MASS ON the PIER

LIVING FAITH

our

FAITH ISN’T JUST SOMETHING WE TEACH, IT’S SOMETHING WE LIVE. At Sandusky Central Catholic School, faith is woven into every school day. Beginning in Kindergarten, our students and staff walk together to St. Mary’s Church each Friday to celebrate All-School Mass. Our mornings begin in prayer, our afternoons end in prayer, and throughout the year, every grade level steps away from the classroom for an off-campus retreat designed to deepen faith, strengthen friendships and grow closer to Christ. These meaningful retreats and campus ministry experiences are made possible through the generosity of donors at our Winter Gala. The 2025–2026 school year brought even more opportunities to encounter Christ thanks to the leadership of our beloved Priest Leader, Rev. Chris Turner, “Father Chris.” New traditions included All-School Adoration, transforming our gym into a place of prayer, praise and worship twice during the year, Mass On The Pier, and our House Group Color Induction Celebration!

BUILDING

Champions

THE 2025–2026 SCHOOL YEAR WAS ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL IN RECENT SMCC ATHLETICS HISTORY! From a Football State Championship and Wrestling State Championships at both the high school level with Ben James, and junior high level with Lincoln James, to individual state qualifiers, conference titles, postseason runs and record-breaking performances, Panther student-athletes raised the bar at every level. Just as exciting was the growth across our programs. Lady Panther Volleyball, basketball and softball teams that each recorded just one victory the previous year, made remarkable strides, winning 6, 12 and 9 games, respectively. And the future is bright. From elementary basketball and youth wrestling to an undefeated Junior High football season, our youngest Panthers are already building the foundation for a championship tradition.

INSPIRING

Creativity

CREATIVITY TAKES CENTER STAGE At Sandusky Central Catholic School, the arts give students the freedom to create, perform, imagine and express their God-given talents. Beginning in preschool students explore music and visual arts, with opportunities expanding to band and choir as they develop. From beautiful student artwork and powerful musical performances to the excitement of our annual school musical, Panthers learn that creativity takes courage, discipline and collaboration. Whether holding a paintbrush, playing an instrument, singing with the choir or stepping into the spotlight, our students have countless opportunities to discover where their talents can take them.

DONORS MAKE IT POSSIBLE Donors are at the heart of so much we do at SCCS. Your generosity gives our students the tools, resources and opportunities to let their talents shine. A special thank you to the Beardsley Family Trusts, our presenting musical sponsor, and to the many donors who helped provide new microphones for our musical productions, new display boards for our annual art show, and new uniforms for the Panther Marching Band. Because of you, our students aren't simply learning the arts... they’re creating, performing, building confidence and sharing their talents with our community.

Artist and Teacher Mr. Steve Kelley inspires creativity and celebrates student talent at the annual SMCC Art Show! Walk thru this April!

Directors Andrew Walsh and Griffith Gentilcore inspire students to find their voice and bring stories to life on stage. Save the Date, March 12–13, 2027!

From taking the stage in 3-year-old preschool to exploring art and music in elementary school, our littlest Panthers are encouraged to shine!

FORMING

Leaders

TODAY THEY SERVE BESIDE US. TOMORROW THEY LEAD OUR COMMUNITY. At SCCS, we believe leadership begins with a simple question: How can I serve? Christian service is woven into the Panther experience. Twice each year, students in grades 6–12 step beyond the classroom for dedicated Service Days, giving their time and talents throughout our community. Panthers serve meals at Victory Kitchen, spend time supporting the Ohio Veterans Home, care for Catholic cemeteries, paint fire hydrants, pick up litter, assist Goodwill, beautify the grounds at Firelands Health and Providence Care Center, and lend a hand wherever they are needed. But forming leaders also happens within our own hallways. Through our House System and mentoring program, students build meaningful relationships across grade levels as our 6–12 graders are paired with preschool–5th grade buddies. Our youngest Panthers gain someone to look up to, while older students discover the responsibility and joy, of being someone worth looking up to. These experiences teach something no textbook can: leadership isn't about being in charge. It's about showing up for others. Donors help make these opportunities possible by providing transportation, supplies and resources for our students to serve.

Mentoring brings Panthers of all ages together, creating meaningful bonds and giving our youngest students role models to look up to!

House Groups bring Panthers together, building community while inspiring teamwork, leadership and a heart for service.

Serving during and beyond the school day teaches Panthers one of life’s greatest lessons: giving back is a gift, and it feels good to make a difference!

Your generosity is turning dreams into reality at SCCS, creating a safer, brighter campus where students can thrive. The Guerra family brought a Winter Gala wish to life with new navy lockers for grades 3–12. Parents and alumni volunteered to refresh hallways with paint, while S&H Blinds and Flooring answered a last-minute call to replace worn hallway flooring for grades 5–7. Every gift and helping hand makes our school a more welcoming home.

Centegix Safety

Through gifts of time, talent, and treasure, our Panther family turns hope into lasting change.

Last year, board member Christine Mack’s research inspired families and administrators to bring CENTEGIX to SCCS, strengthening safety for students and staff. The system equips teachers and staff with a wearable, single-button panic badge to summon emergency help. With campus-wide coverage, it pinpoints the exact floor and room of an emergency without relying on Wi-Fi or cellular networks, helping responders and school administration to reach those in need quickly. This investment by our school families, made through the Winter Gala and The Panther Fund, reflects our community’s commitment to protecting the students and staff that make our school so special.

Gina Milkie Alumni Parent and Beyond Boundaries Campaign Leadership Team SMCC has been an important part of our family! All four of our children have graduated from SMCC and we are incredibly grateful for the strong academic foundation and the faith values they received there. We chose to support the Capital Campaign because we believe in the future of Catholic education and want future generations of students to have the same opportunities our children had.

LUMNI SPOTLIGHT SMCC TO HARVARD LAW

KIMBERLY RUTHSATZ STEPHENS ‘99 Voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by her SMCC peers, Kimberly Ruthsatz Stephens has lived up to that prediction! Her Panther foundation led her to Princeton University and Harvard Law School, launching an accomplished legal career. After serving as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., she now serves as AbbVie’s Associate General Counsel of Litigation, Legal Strategy & Policy. A wife and mother of three, Kimberly is also co-author of The Prodigy’s Cousin: The Family Link Between Autism and Extraordinary Talent, exploring the remarkable connection between autism and exceptional ability. From public service to corporate leadership and authorship, Kimberly’s journey reflects the ambition, curiosity, and excellence that make Panthers proud! I'M GRATEFUL THAT I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND SMCC, A PLACE THAT IS MEANINGFUL TO MY FAMILY AND WHERE I EXPERIENCED THE JOY OF CLOSE COMMUNITY AND FAITH. 34
