WE HAD TO GET ACROSS THE ‘RIVER’ USING JUST TWO PIECES OF WOOD AND A PIECE OF CARPET. I GOT STUCK ON A LONE PIECE OF WOOD, FLOATING AT SEA, BUT ROSE SQUEEZED ONTO ANOTHER PIECE OF MAT SO I COULD JUMP ON TOO. MY CLASSMATES ARE THOUGHTFUL AND KIND, AND LEADERSHIP DAY WAS SO MEMORABLE FOR ME.

We can’t ask our girls to deliver their personal best without delivering our own. Our school can’t sit at the top of the tables without incredible staff investment and we keep abreast of education theory to be inspired practitioners.
Girls with learning difficulties could not be in a better place to conquer them. Our inclusive learning environment supports the wellbeing and self efficacy
of all girls, irrespective of their personal capabilities.
The strength of relationships between girls and teachers in senior years have been well recognised as a defining factor in the quality and consistency of academic results, offering the best platform for successful tertiary study. The meaning and example of St Cuthbert’s life is encapsulated in the College motto By Love Serve. There has always been a great emphasis on service at the College as our history includes educating girls through two world wars and the Great Depression. A St Cuthbert’s girl is encouraged to share, respect the needs of others, accept different viewpoints and negotiate peacefully. She is also inspired to work hard and take time for spiritual reflection. The Old Girls’ Chapel provides a spiritual focus for every girl; families are welcomed to House and year level services. Christian values lie at the heart of our Values projects and Peer Support programme. So much more than a school motto, By Love Serve is alive and demonstrated every day in classrooms and staffrooms at St Cuthbert’s.

Our education outside the classroom programme sees the girls heading off on camp adventures from their early days, and it is here that our parent helpers see
their daughters and their friends from a unique and fresh perspective. Teacher and parent connections are also forged on camp, and we are often humbled with the feedback we receive from parents about the calibre and commitment of our teachers at these times.

Inventive learning programmes are part of the St Cuthbert’s culture. The Reggio programme in the Junior School allows our youngest to become creative thinkers from the beginning while all students develop a comprehensive range of thinking
strategies through our internationally recognised Thinking Skills programme; they practise and refine these skills through experiences such as Philosophy for Children, Robotics and Future Problem Solving.
The Personalised Learning Centre, a first for New Zealand, works to ensure that all students have access to programmes that extend their learning while our Values projects grow girls' social awareness and understanding of our society.
OUR DAUGHTER HAS JUST RETURNED FROM HER VERY SPECIAL 28 DAYS AT KAHUNUI. SHE IS CURRENTLY COOKING THAI CHICKEN CURRY FOR DINNER, HAS DONE HER OWN WASHING AND IS CLEANING THE KITCHEN. ON THE CAR TRIP HOME ON SATURDAY, I BELIEVE SHE SPOKE MORE THAN SHE EVER HAS BEFORE. THE KAHUNUI PROGRAMME AND PHILOSOPHY HAVE EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS.
WORDS CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW GRATEFUL I AM TO HAVE EXPERIENCED SUCH AN OPPORTUNITY. THE VALLEY TRAMP WAS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE PARTS OF KAHUNUI, WALKING NEARLY 40KMS AROUND LAKE TARAWERA! IT WAS HARD LUGGING HEAVY PACKS UP STEEP HILLS BUT IT WAS ALL WORTH IT. KAHUNUI WAS HONESTLY THE BEST MONTH OF MY LIFE.

Experiences such as Year 7 Motutapu camp and our own ground breaking remote campus Kahunui will see your
daughter grow and extend herself personally and physically.

You don’t have to spend long on campus to realise music is simply part of College life. It resonates from our assemblies and uplifts our celebrations, our Chapel Services and our classrooms.
There is a wide range of musical opportunities for your daughter, from pop and rock to jazz and classical. There are all-comers groups for singers, wind, percussion and string
players as well as auditioned groups for elite musicians.
Giving it a go is everything. Her creative dimension will be nurtured and supported as she tests her wings across many different performing arts. From an early age, she will experience speaking publicly, performing on stage, acting in drama productions, dancing in cultural festivals and debating.
