Spearman was elected as state superintendent of education in 2014. For 18 years she served as a classroom music teacher and assistant principal.

She was elected to four terms as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives. For 10 years she served as the executive director of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.

Stanton is responsible for the overall administration and management of the state’s employment agency. Prior to her current position, Stanton worked as a labor and employment attorney in both the public and private sectors. She served in the White House under President George W. Bush as the administration’s principal legal liaison to the U.S Department of Labor.

Miller has been the President at Greenville Technical College since 2008. Miller served as Chairman of the Board for the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) in 200809. He has also served on the board of directors for the American Council on Education and was co-chairman of the national steering committee for development of the Voluntary Framework for Accountability.

Giles was named President of Spartanburg Community College in 2012.

Giles has worked for the college for the past 45 years in a variety of positions, including CFO, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Vice President for Business Affairs.

across the state that a career in manufacturing can be fun and financially rewarding, an idea that the Dream. It. Do. It. campaign started years ago. Approximately 1,300 high school students from 59 South Carolina school districts are set to attend.

Greenville Technical College presents the Advanced Manufacturing Job Fair. The Job Fair is held in conjunction with the SC Manufacturing Conference and Expo on Tuesday, April 14 in Exhibit Hall 1 at the TD Convention Center. The Job Fair, which is open to the community, includes representatives from 30+ South Carolina manufacturing companies. They are available to discuss current job availability as well as anticipated future openings. Also, staffing agencies that specialize in finding qualified applicants for manufacturing jobs are available to talk to job seekers. This job fair is free and open to the public thanks to Greenville Technical College.

The Career Fair will be held on Wednesday, April 15 at the TD Convention Center. The Career Fair, sponsored by the South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA), is a collaboration of educational institutions and several South Carolina government agencies.

SOUTH CAROLINA RESEARCH AUTHORITY (SCRA) HIGH SCHOOL CAREER FAIR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15 9:00 am – 2:30 pm Access to a highly skilled and educated workforce is the most critical element for innovation success. Increasingly, companies report they cannot find individuals with the skills required for today’s advanced manufacturing workplaces.

These skill shortages pervade all stages of manufacturing— from engineering to skilled production. Because of this “skills gap,” a critical demand has emerged: High school students (and their parents) must be convinced that manufacturing careers are a viable choice for graduates. Only 35 percent of parents say they would encourage their children to pursue careers in manufacturing, despite the advanced skills and high pay that are characteristic of work in today’s advanced manufacturing industry. This is due to a perception of manufacturing that existed a generation ago but does not represent the current reality of the industry.

Stouffer is the lead author of NIST Special Publication 800-82, Guide to Industrial Control Systems Security, which provides guidance on how to secure ICS while addressing their unique performance, reliability and safety requirements. Stouffer has also provided input to the ISA/IEC 62443 and NERC CIP security standards. During his career, he has received gold and bronze medals from the Department of Commerce and the Gov30 Security Award.

The discussion will give an overview of established programs and explore existing and future funding models.

In this position he had responsibility for engaging the Federal sector and the greater scientific community to identify possible areas for policy actions related to manufacturing. He was also responsible for coordinating Federal advanced manufacturing R&D, addressing issues related to technology commercialization, identifying gaps in current Federal R&D in advanced manufacturing and developing strategies to close these gaps.
