After the Wilmington Region experienced weak
job creation following the severe recession of
2008, the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce
examined how other regions monitor their
economic growth to determine the best
metrics to use to track our area’s performance.
The leadership of the Chamber’s flagship
initiative, Cape Fear Future, chose to develop
a Regional Economic Scorecard which
would allow us to analyze our economic
performance without bias. The Scorecard
project premiered last fall, and will be
produced annually to monitor our region’s
performance over time.
