AARP CarFit
Scarborough Community Services has partnered with AARP to provide a valuable safety education session tailored for older drivers. Trained CarFit Technician volunteers will guide participants through essential adjustments, such as mirror positioning, seat placement, and steering wheel tilt, to help them achieve a safer and more comfortable driving experience.
This personalized session takes approximately 30 minutes and is offered at no cost. However, registration for timed appointments is required to ensure individual attention.

Playful Meditative Doodling

Hands-Only CPR
The Hands-Only CPR course is designed to teach the basics of performing CPR, with a primary focus on chest compressions to assist someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. This class is intended for the general public, including those with no prior CPR experience. Participants will learn how to recognize cardiac arrest, perform effective chest compressions, and use an AED.
The hands-only CPR classes do not include a course completion card. You must register for a Heartsaver CPR course to receive a card.

Heartsaver CPR & AED
Based on the latest science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC), this course is designed for individuals with limited or no medical training who need a CPR and AED course completion card to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.
Participants will learn how high-quality CPR improves survival, the concepts of the Chain of Survival, how to recognize when someone needs CPR, and how to perform high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants. The course also covers performing CPR with assistance, providing effective breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups, using an AED on adults and children, and recognizing and responding to choking in adults, children, and infants.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals
Based on the latest science and education from the American Heath Association's Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC), this course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to perform CPR and basic cardiovascular life support skills in a variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.
Participants will learn high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants; the AHA Chain of Survival with a focus on the Basic Life Support components; the importance of early AED use; effective ventilations using a barrier device; the role of teamwork in multi-rescuer resuscitation; how to perform as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR; and how to relieve foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) in adults and infants.

Lucky Catch Lobster Tour
Come join us for an excursion on the waters of Casco Bay while we learn about lobster habits, conservation efforts and the difference between hard shells, shedders, shorts, culls, and keepers. Participate in the baiting and hauling of the traps, or sit back and relax as we cruise near picturesque lighthouses, historic civil war forts, and the “Seal Rocks”.
We will find lunch along Commercial Street before heading home. Any lobsters we catch can be purchased after the cruise for wholesale “boat” price and cooked at the Portland Lobster Company for a fee.
The excursion is 80-90 minutes and it is recommended we use a restroom before boarding. There is a low-capacity bathroom onboard suitable for emergency use only.

Drop off and pick up will be at Wentworth School. Please do not drop off before the start time listed. Ample time has been scheduled to allow everyone to be dropped off prior to departure.
All trips have a MIN/MAX headcount of 20/50, unless otherwise noted.
Participants will be in small groups with required check-in times for most trips. Chaperones will monitor all groups, with some trips having a designated chaperone for each group.
Some trips require release forms, specific attire, recommend bringing money, etc. Please read the full description during online registration. An email reminder will be sent prior to each trip.
No refunds or credits will be issued for dropped trips after June 23, 2025, regardless of waitlists or registration date, unless the trip is canceled by us. Trips requiring prepayment are non-refundable after the due date. Please see trip details for more info.

Horseback Riding

The Edge Academy
Improve your baseball and softball game by focusing on the fundamental skills of hitting, throwing, fielding, base running, and team play. Mornings will be dedicated to skill-building drills with a mix of competitive games to put those skills into action. Afternoons will feature coach-pitch scrimmages with in-game instruction to reinforce learning in a fun and supportive environment. One day of camp is scheduled to be held at Hadlock Field, where members of the Portland Sea Dogs will assist with instruction. Fall Soccer Registration
Fall Soccer is just around the corner! In this program, players will be grouped in grade-level teams and will learn the skills needed to play this fun and fast-paced sport. Teams will have one practice during the week with a one-hour game on Saturdays.

There is a strict deadline in order to finalize rosters for our volunteer coaches and develop game schedules for the appropriate amount of teams. After the deadline, registration will be closed and a waitlist will start. We will pull from the waitlist if there are open spots on teams or more coaches volunteer. Registrations beyond the deadline will incur a $10 late fee.
SPECIAL REQUEST POLICY
Coach and player requests are limited to one request per participant. You may request one coach OR one player. Although we try our best, we cannot guarantee that your choice will be honored. Requests will not be accepted after the deadline.
COACHES’ MEETING
The coaches’ meeting will be held prior to the start of the season to receive their team rosters with contact information. Coaches will be in touch with families shortly thereafter either by email or phone. The date and location of the meeting are to be determined.

Parking Fees
Parking fees are collected by attendants from the start of Memorial Day weekend through the end of Labor Day weekend. Collection hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a fee of $20 per single vehicle.
Season parking passes are available for purchase in May of each year. For up to date parking pass fees, visit the beaches section of our website.
DOGS ON BEACH REMINDER
Due to increased foot traffic, furry friends are welcome on the beach at select times during the summer months. Please keep in mind these hours and the leash rules for the time of day.

RENTALS & RESERVATIONS
Field & Facility Reservations
Community Services has made booking a field or facility simpler by allowing online reservation requests! Using your organization’s username and password, you are able to log onto our online reservation system on our website and access the following features:
Update your organization’s contact information. We ask that each group or organization only maintain one primary contact person to keep communications consistent throughout the reservation process.
Check field and facility availability in real-time.
Request a field or facility.
Print request confirmation for your records.
Make a payment for reservation online using a debit or credit card.
