Security companies such as Nurembergand Vienna-based Nürnberger Wach- und Schließgesellschaft (NWS), one of Germany’s leading security providers. “We celebrate our 120th anniversary this year and may be considered a well-loved tradition. On the one hand, at least. On the other hand, we are also all about the technological future. Our goal is and always has been the protection of people and property. Here, our claim is to provide high-quality personal and technological security solutions for every need. This won’t change in the future,” promises COO Ernst Steuger. Over the years, NWS’ services have steadily expanded and today range from plant and property security, surveillance services, reception and telephone services, over alarm monitoring, aviation security services, munic82 |

ipal traffic monitoring and railway services. “Many of our clients have come to see security staff as some kind of ‘figurehead’ of the house. We therefore, as a renowned service provider, offer individual, needs-based solutions to our clients. Our highly qualified staff has completed the appropriate training for each security concern and only works with high-performance, high-quality equipment,” stresses Steuger. The 120 years of NWS have already been mentioned. Where does Steuger see the most pressing challenges of the future? And how does the company respond? “There are primarily two developments. One is the trend towards mechanisation and digitisation, which has fully taken hold of our industry, too. Perimeter protection, hazard protection

systems, video technology, detectors to unmanned gate and access control systems, virtual tours by means of video control centres via cameras or drones, and robotic or mobile video surveillance, are all topics which have become increasingly important in recent years. We have identified these developments and have long since arrived in the aforementioned technological future. And we keep on developing. The other topic is sustainability. We published our first sustainability report in April 2021. It confirms that for us the key to security is green. Hence we are one of the first, if not the only company in the security industry, to operate climate-neutrally. For us, as a traditional family business, it is natural to consider future generations in our entrepreneurial activities and decisions. Thus, alongside customer-orientated services, a balance of economical, ecological and social sustainability is at the top of NWS’ agenda.” www.nwsgmbh.de
