WITH PASSION AND KNOW-HOW INTO THE DIGITAL WORLD Serhat Argun, founder of the Augsburg-based agency A-DIGITAL one, talks about his journey from being a student with big ideas to leading a strong creative agency team. He also shares his three most important insights with us. TEXT: MARILENA STRACKE I

Everything started in the ‘90s when the internet hype arrived in Germany. Back then Serhat Argun was studying computer science at the University of Ulm. There, he was fortunate enough to be able to realise his first experimental web projects and focused entirely on developing design systems. In 1999 he created his first websites and digital applications for clients – while still a student. Out of his passion and curiosity a new vision emerged: Argun wanted to be part of a community as an expert for digitisation. We support and prepare our clients individually for their way into the digital future. Therefore, we offer a wide range of skills in the fields of design, web development, marketing and video production”, Argun says. “But the journey to get here lasted 23 years – and yes, such a long path has many stumbling blocks and walls to overcome. During all these years I gained important insights, which continue to shape and motivate me as a team leader today.”
BRINGING THE RIGHT PEOPLE TOGETHER One of the most crucial insights Argun gained is about the development of his team: “A strong team is incredibly important for an agency because our products are entirely made in our heads and from our collective interplay”, he explains.
A key element for him? To find personalities, who complement the team’s existing strengths and weaknesses, who have each other’s backs and who love what they do. Because of that, work does not feel like work, and everyone can reach their individual potential. “I learned that the passion, creativity and strength of each team member is utterly important for our collective output”, Argun claims. “Each puzzle piece has to fit in perfectly. Not just regarding skillset but also in terms of personality. It is only then that we can work together in harmony and focus on what we do best: developing innovative digital solutions for our clients and partners.”
