A SYMPHONY OF ECONOMY, ECOLOGY AND CREATIVITY ARCHITECTURE WITH A FEEL-GOOD FACTOR

Founded in March 1997, büro 213 is outstanding as far as creativity, economic sustainability as well as the creation of an unique feel-good factor is concerned. “Our designs are as individual and diverse as our clients. We are always focusing on ecological as well as economical aspects of the respective project. Our projects are designed to make people immediately feel at home. Without really knowing why,” explains Markus Schell who describes büro 213’s designs as follows: “Basically we aim at creating good architecture. While this may sound quite straight forward and simple, it really isn’t. Architecture always deals with contradictions: individual requests may clash with le-

gal and technical specifications. This is where we come in. Our designs are created on a 3-D model, which gives us the creative space we need to provide our projects with esprit that has become our trademark, i.e., an architectural fusion of economic planning, sustainable construction and exceptional design which results in the disappearance of any alleged contradictions.” Speaking about costs…. These sustainable designs must be quite expensive? “Simple answer: NO! Our working standard is very high, our designs are economically sensible and have a high recognition factor. Yet we do not burden our clients with

the fictitious prices of star architects. Better even: our designs are much more functional,” smirks Schell. Is there THE One example that may serve as a blueprint for büro 213’s designs? “Lots. There are naturally our biomorph wooden roof constructions, which are prefabricated by means of a milling machine and erected as a solid wood construction. This approach allows to establish individuality of design as well as accurate to size construction. Above all, wood creates a pleasant feel-good factor and the renewable resource also lowers heating cost. A perfect symbiosis of ecology, economy and design.”
